Railroad spikes hold the spirit of the railroad. The railroad is synonymous with famous Hoodoo spirits such as Railroad Bill and John Henry...
I'll link the stories I've written about them in the comments.
There are three main energies of the railroad spike.
The spike of the railroad is commonly used because it is essentially a nail. In Hoodoo nails play a significant part signifying binding, protection, and to hold in place. Although the spike is not the only thing used in Hoodoo when it comes to workings with materials of the railroad it seems to be the most popular nowadays. Other items that can be used are bolts, rocks, and dirt, just to name a few.
The second aspect of the railroad spike is the traveling energy of the railroad. Old workings may consist of tying one's torn clothing around a fed spike so they can keep progressing and keep "going" in life like a train.
Others may use the spike with hair and other ingredients to create confusion, dive out an enemy, to keep them "running", they won't know if they're "coming or going."
The third main aspect is the protective spirit of iron and strength. So, many may used fed railroad spikes to protect one's home or carry with them on their person or in their car, just to name a few.
Areas of influence:
• Workings with the spike may include chasing one away or creating unsettlement in one's mind.
• Protection of the home.
• Protection of the vehicle.
• Bring prosperity.
• Create crops for farmers. Or encouraging seeds to grow in soil.
• Helps with luck and gambling.
• Freedom and court case.
