We are so grateful for Justin Cantrell and Brilliant Cleaning and Restoration came out to help us with our recent storm damage to the shop.

His company does it all from mitigation and clean up, to repair.. and even dealing with the insurance company. It’s been such a smooth process so far.

GREETINGS BOOKLINGS from the Mayor of BOOKVILLE. June 19.
…Today is the day that we will know what's ahead for us; two different insurers will be at the store this morning. Yesterday's post praising State Farm was premature. One insurance company will appraise the building's roof and structure, and the other will appraise the contents. The weather forecast for the next week is rain; however, the appraiser driving from out of state stated there will be clear skies for the next week. This is the person who will make decisions about our store; on the phone, he sounded like a teenager. Thankfully, we have a friend who is an attorney, and she's helping us navigate all this.
…Here's our plan: hopefully, we'll open later next week with new shelving for a larger BookToK room, move Nonfiction to another room, provide more room for local authors and local history; everything else will stay the same. Thanks everyone for your support; maybe, just maybe, something good will come out of this if Bob doesn't jump off a bridge first.
The End.

GREETINGS BOOKLINGS, FROM THE MAYOR OF BOOKVILLE. June 18.
…Not much to report for yesterday; we all took the day off just to clear our heads for what needs to be done. BOB left town and visited a few friends who have bookstores (he doesn’t have much of a life).
…Today, we are waiting on the claims adjuster from State Farm and still waiting on the other insurance company, whoever they are and wherever they are. …The contractor will be in this morning to get ready, hopefully to put the room that was damaged back together.
…Let’s all hope the last of the books have been thrown out, and the last of the shelves also. If we can get the porch repaired, we can open and work around the repairs; for safety reasons, we will wait.
…On a positive note, nothing that can’t be easily replaced was damaged; our store is divided into different rooms or areas. The Classics, Sustainable Living, New Books, BookTok room, History, Religion, and Children’s room weren’t affected.
…Today, we will continue ordering new books, decide on carpet, lighting, and shelves in the affected area. The store is a mess because of the totes and boxes of books we saved and that are in the way.
…Let’s all be glad Bob takes blood pressure pills; he’s hard to be around and isn’t getting any younger.
…We will continue buying books as usual today because that’s what we do.
…Again, thanks for the outpouring of support from our BOOK FAMILY.
THE END.

Greetings from the Mayor of Bookville. Most know about the water damage from Saturday's storm, so we will give an update. First, only a small area was affected; it's in what we call the Fiction room. The books that we pulled and removed were Westerns, Cozy Mystery, and Modern Fiction, mostly men's authors. We removed a lot of shelves, the carpet, and the ceiling. Blowers have been blowing for 24 hours and will continue for another day. We hired a contractor who have done most of the teardown. Two insurance companies are involved; one is taking the lead, and the other is AWOL. We are looking into either buying new shelving or having it made locally. We think we might be open by the first of next week, with a little construction still going on.
So that’s it for now,
…Bob had been posting photos of himself sitting in a empty room, in front of a pile of damaged books and other photos just remember who Bob is and that those are staged photos so don’t worry about the old guy he’s a showman.
Everything is going to work out with this it’s just another Chapter of ALWAYS BUYING BOOKS , Bob the showman will turn this into something positive.
Alyse is taking the led on making the decisions.
Thanks to all who have reached out and offered their support in one way or another, indeed we are a family .

We have been featured on television, with KSN and KODE Joplin broadcasting our story this afternoon, focusing on the unfortunate loss of books due to water damage. We would like to take this opportunity to inform the public about our progress toward reopening. The roof has been temporarily patched and is scheduled for permanent repair this week. Approximately 15-20,000 books were damaged beyond repair, although all are replaceable. The fiction room has undergone significant renovation, including the removal of shelving, ceiling, lighting, and carpet. The room is currently undergoing aeration, and professional teams are working diligently. Our insurance companies are coordinating efforts, with one taking the lead. Fortunately, our Classics, History, Children’s, Christian, new books, and BookTok sections remained unaffected. Although we will be closed tomorrow, work will continue. Following the completion of repairs, we will determine the best shelving solutions. We anticipate reopening early next week. Special thanks to Roberta for her coming in today and helping Alyse also to Cyndee for the doughnuts, yes Bob shared them…reluctantly.
We DON’T need any books we have that cover.
Bob & Alyse.
