Day 23 (SUN June 14th)

Yesterday was my youngest granddaughter’s last soccer game… and of course I wasn’t missing it! 😂🥰⚽️

Used my cane at the fields because of the uneven grass and long walk (still making smart choices over here 😅)… but after the game, we went for ice cream and I left the cane in the car. As we started walking, my grandson grabbed one hand… and then my granddaughter grabbed my other hand. ❤️ And suddenly it hit me… I honestly couldn’t remember the last time I was able to walk hand in hand with two grandkids at once (without a cane). 🤦🏻‍♀️😕 I’m still healing. I’m still limited. But in that moment… I got a glimpse of why I did this. Not for a number at PT. Not to ditch the cane. For moments like that. ❤️

Thank you all for cheering me on, checking in, encouraging me, and walking through this recovery with me. Yesterday felt like a really special milestone. 🥹✨

Knee Replacement Surgery
Day 20 (THURS June 11th)

Life is starting to feel a bit more “normal”. 😊 PT this morning. Although my bend was down a couple degrees (96°)…PT is happy with my progress. Gotta keep working! Also had my follow up doc appt today! Staples are gone…compression socks too! Doc says incision looks great! 😬 Going to try switching to just Tylenol…and a pain pill only before PT. Really wanna get off the pain meds. 🤞🏻 Once I’m off pain meds, I’ve been cleared to drive as long as I take a “test drive” first. Being it’s my right knee…wanna make sure I’m comfortable driving and am able to switch from gas to brake easily. With my ROM and extension, they think it shouldn’t be a problem. But I want to make sure! 😊 I continue to work on my bend…even though my whole leg feels like a block of concrete at times. Lol. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Gotta keep moving forward! 🥰

Knee Replacement Surgery
Day 17 (MON June 8th)

First out-patient PT appointment this evening. Not much fun. Haha. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Did okay with the exercises. But the massage and bending and stretching he did was pretty painful. Hoping some of that gets better when I get the staples out on Thursday. 🤞🏻 But…my bend is now 98°…so making progress! Iced and elevated afterwards. Pretty sore. 😕

Day to day life is getting better. Still trying to find a balance between “doing” and resting. It’s nice to get back to a little bit of a routine. 🥰

Day 15 (SAT June 6th)

And…just like that…I think I may have overdone it today. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Molly’s soccer game was this morning. Love watching that girl play. She was SO close to SO many goals! ⚽️ Home for an attempted nap (no luck)…then over to my brother’s house in Aurora. Just planned to hang out with my brothers and sisters in law by the pool. But after an almost hour drive there, sitting around for almost 5 hours, then the ride back…I’m pretty sore. 😕 Icing and elevating now before sleep. Hoping I don’t pay for it too much tomorrow. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Otherwise, felt pretty good today. 🥰
