Process:
1. Gather your items to sell. Go through your home and gather any jewelry, clothing, accessories, handbags, shoes, and even unused makeup that no longer bring you joy. I will take it from there. I do not take children’s or men’s clothing but I can take care of donating them for you.
2. I list your items on Poshmark. This is the easy part! I take it from here and pay out proceeds to you on the first of every month. I keep track of your sales on a spreadsheet that you will have access to.
3. After 60 days, items that don’t sell are donated
If an item doesn’t sell in 60 days, I donate it on your behalf and mail you a receipt, if requested. I do give higher-end items (value of $100 or more) an extra month to sell. Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
How do we split the proceeds? First, note that Poshmark takes 20% from every single sale. Then, I pay out a portion of the final proceeds to you (this percentage is agreed upon when I take you on as a client). Why consign with you? I have over 100,000 followers on Poshmark and share each of my closet items twice daily. This is essential to sales on Poshmark. I already have the supplies and system set up to ship your item fast. I do all of the work and you benefit from my Poshmark status. Unlike other consignment stores I try to give nearly every item a chance to sell, and there are 60 million users on Poshmark ready to buy! What should I include in my items to sell? Have you watched Marie Kondo? If you haven’t worn an item in a year, or it doesn’t bring you joy, it’s time to let it go. I no longer take children’s or men’s clothing because they don't sell. However, I would be happy to donate them for you. I also limit the number of items to 100 per client. What should I NOT include in my items? Please only include items that are authentic. It is illegal to sell fake or replica designer items and I will not list yours. I also cannot sell nail polish, candles, or used makeup. I do not sell items that have major flaws like holes, big stains, or lots of pilling. I used to list items like this and they sold, but I would get bad reviews from buyers who did not read the listing. Should I include items from last season? I have sold coats in the summer and shorts in the winter. Just note that I do not hold seasonal items to sell later. How do you want me to organize my items? This is my most frequently asked question! After years of doing this, I have determined that the best way to get items to me is a trash bag. They are easier to carrying around and fit in my car. No need to fold or organize your items. What is your selling philosophy? I list items at a high cost, then discount each week until they are sold. That may mean that an Old Navy shirt sells for more than what you originally paid, or it may mean your designer skirt sells for only $3. In general, my philosophy is to get the item sold, so if you want a certain dollar amount out of proceeds for an item then you may want to keep it out of your items you provide me. How much do items sell for? It really varies, but on average an item sells for $4-$20 before we split the proceeds. I counter-offer any low-ball offers but do try to sell as much as I can. How long do you keep items listed? I keep your items listed on Poshmark for at least 60 days. Then, I donate them to the Animal Lifeline of Iowa Thrift shop. Please only send items that you are OK with donating if they don’t sell. If you would like all of your items back then you can pick up at my home at the end of your 60 days. Do you only sell on Poshmark? It is my main focus. Sometimes friends who are local will reach out and want to purchase an item. This will be noted in your sales report. I focus on Poshmark since that is where I have built my following. How do I get items to you? I will travel within a 30-mile radius of the Des Moines metro area to pick up your items. We can meet somewhere, I can do a doorstep pickup, or you can even drop off at my home. We work together for whatever is easiest for you! How do you make payments? We agree on payment method when you sign on with me. Then, I pay out the first of every month and repeat that each month until your items are closed out.
