Hey Y'all, this is Barbara. Her family has owned and operated the Stono Market & Tomato Shed Cafe & Ambrose Family Farm on Main Road, Johns Island for over 30 years.

The Tomato Shed is hands down the best place for a delicious affordable organic farm-fresh lunch on Johns Island. The menu changes daily, (but you can always count on the food being scrumptious, fresh, and still to this day, very very reasonably priced. (We love one of their classics, which is the most amazing shrimp salad!.)

The market offers fresh local veggies, baked goods and there is a host of awesome local artisan crafts, many of which make for great gifts to bring back home with you.

Heads up: The cafe does get packed at lunch time but table turnover is fairly quick and it's always fun to people watch from the porch on one of their ultra comfy swing beds while you wait.

The staff is down home awesome- the food is delicious and the prices will have you thinking you're in a perpetual time warp! And that's a good thing :-)

After lunch, take home some fresh local produce and pick up a complimentary copy of the best little visitors guide to Charleston while you're there... and if you see Barbara keeping things flowin' and goin' there on the lunch hour, be sure and say hello!
