✂️ Behind the Seams Tuesday ✂️

One of the questions we hear most often is, "Can you just shorten my dress?"

The answer is yes—but bridal hems are rarely simple. 🤍

Many wedding gowns feature lace, appliqués, horsehair braid, multiple layers, beading, and intricate details that must be carefully preserved while adjusting the length.

One of my favorite parts of bridal alterations is hand stitching lace back into place after a hem adjustment. It requires patience, technical thinking, and attention to detail to ensure the finished gown looks as though it was designed that way from the beginning.

It's quiet work, but also some of the most rewarding.

The goal is always the same: when you look in the mirror, all you see is a beautiful gown—not the hundreds of stitches that helped create the perfect fit.
