What else does a children's book author do besides write? Many authors get involved in their communities to encourage other potential writers, solicit feedback and reviews on their books, and talk about what writing means to them. Author Mike Velthouse ("Journey Through the Psalms"), for example, recently spoke at a chapel speech in Randolph, Wisconsin!

Interested in attending an author event? Drop in to a special Storytime at Reformed Book Outlet in Hudsonville, Michigan, on Wednesday, May 13. Author Joyce Holstege will be reading excerpts of her newest book ("This is the Church" is intended for ages 5-8)!

Today for Children’s Book Week, we’re highlighting a few of our extraordinary children's book authors! Joyce Holstege, author of "I Belong" (2022) and "This is the Church" (2026), is a kindergarten teacher with a heart for arts and crafts. Mike Velthouse, author of "Journey Through the Psalms" (2024), began his writing career with articles for his church’s newsletter about people and places from Bible history. Kelsey Kamminga, author of "King of Glory" (2025), enjoys music, cooking, baking sourdough, and spending time in nature.

But what do they all have in common? They love Christ, his church, and especially the young saints that fill her pews. These RFPA authors (and many more!) have sacrificed their time and energy to help put good Christian books in the hands of young believers everywhere. We thank God for them!
