We make patches for over motorcycle clubs across the U.S. and Canada, which means I’ve seen a lot of folks try to start their own club. And while I’m not your club counselor, guidance counselor, or mama, I do try to help people avoid walking straight into a mess.
Now technically, I could just say, “Sure, I’ll make you a 3-piece back patch with an MC cube—what city you want on it?” Then sit back and wait for the follow-up order once reality hits and everything needs to be redone. Easy money, right?
But nah, we actually care about our customers (even the stubborn ones). So I try to point people down the right path. Sometimes that means suggesting a few… customs. Traditions. You know, things that keep your nose unbroken.
And I’ve heard it all:
“Ain’t nobody gonna tell me what I can wear!”
Then, about 6 days and one awkward parking lot conversation later:
“Soooooo… I’m gonna need to make some changes.”
So here’s my question for all of you, especially the seasoned vets:
What advice, tips, or friendly warnings would you give someone trying to start a motorcycle club?
