With cooler weather coming, we will be using our furnaces soon which unfortunately causes a dramatic drop in humidity in the home and around the piano. Keep your piano away from heating vents, and if possible run a humidifier or install Dampp-Chaser to maintain better tuning stability in your piano. The humidification systems require frequent water checks and adding water as often as once a day but the Dampp-Chaser system would run several days before needing a recharge of water. A piano cover such as a custom-fitted blanket with a v***r barrier could also help protect your piano from humidity changes (but don't place a plastic sheet directly on the piano or it may damage the finish).
