Dear friends of West End Deli. It's with a heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of my father Vince "Mr. Z" Zaccaria. I can't express how much he loved his store and the hundreds of kids that came in there over the past 30 years. West End Deli wasn't a corporate business venture for my dad, it was something he liked to do and was rewarding for him and my mom in many other ways.They loved posting school pictures of the neighborhood kids on the wall, and knew all their names. He had a huge heart and a lot of compassion for the people in the neighborhood. I don't know of any other candy store that would keep a jar of free candy on the counter in case someone came in without any money. Although the store hasn't opened in a while, we kept everything in place just how he wanted things in case he would be well enough one day to come back and make ice cream cones, or dish out penny candy. We wanted him to have hope even though he was very Ill. Because of COVID-19 we weren't able to have a public memorial service. We don't know what the future holds for West End Deli, but we thank you for the memories that we have of the last 30 years.

Mr. Z's Spetember's hours:
Open - usually between 4:30 and 5:30 but sometimes as late as 6:00 or 7:00
Closed - usually around 8:00, but sometimes between 7:30 and 9:00 or when it gets dark - just depends.
