I have been carving out my niche in the ever-expanding jewelry market. Stringing began as a little hobby that has become an obsession! I love unique glass beads, just about every semi-precious gemstone and metals. Last year I discovered the wonderful Kazuri beads made by the women in Kenya and decided to try making my own ceramic beads. My mother had been a china painter and her kiln was sitting t

here waiting to be used. When my hairstylist, who makes wonderful pottery, encouraged me to give bead making a try, I decided to put the kiln to use! My latest creative venture is making porcelain and stoneware clay pendants and beads that I glaze and then fire in the little electric kiln. Most of my beads are fired to a cone 6, which is mid-range and this produces a very sturdy bead or pendant; one that will not likely chip in everyday use. I am investigating the use of low fire clay and glazes and sometime soon will perhaps be listing some of these. I am what is called a "newbie" in this venture and am learning as I go.

Life has been busy, but I have done some creating! Artists at the Market will be back in June and we have some new vendors lined up. Here is a sneak peak of some of my latest creations.

Art in the Park was on an oppressively hot day but sales were good. Thanks to all of my customers who ventured to Miller Park and purchased my creations. I will be at Artists at the Market on every Wednesday and Thursday, 1-4, from July 11 to August 23, and Sundays, 12-4, from July 8 to July 29. On Sunday, August 5, I will be at Art in the Park in Miller Park, in Chautauqua Institution. Then I will be back at the Market on Sunday, Aug. 12 and 19. I look forward to seeing repeat customers and hope to meet new customers. Come visit.

Working, working. Some new creations. I have been trying new things. There is a small batch of ceramic pieces in the kiln right now. New Kazuri beads are stockpiled, ready to be used in new things. I have been gathering some nice pieces from other ceramic artists. Summer is coming!

Sunday, July 23. It looks like the weather could be "iffy", so carry an umbrella and come visit Artists at the Market in Chautauqua Institution. Look for our sign that is just inside the main gate and then head right, past the bus stop. We will be in the red brick building with lots of wonderful products. Open noon to 4. Free parking and admission until 2! It would be a good way to spend this rainy day! Here are some of my new creations that will be available.

See you at Artists at the Market at Chautauqua Institution. We will begin the season on Wednesday, June 28, 1-4. We are located near the main gate in the Farmers' Market building. Through the summer, we will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays, 1-4 and most Sundays, 12-4.

The Chautauqua season is starting next Saturday, June 24, and Artists at the Market will open on Wednesday, June 28. There will be several new vendors, along with the "regulars." I am back in the studio after a couple of fun adventures! We visited Greece with our friends and then traveled to Utah with our son and his wife and 2 year old. I loved both of the trips but now it is back to work! Just finished a couple of creations using beads that I purchased in Greece! Artists at the Market is fast approaching.

Today I sent out emails to possible vendors for Artists at the Market. Summer at Chautauqua will be here before we know it and things will be bustling at the Farmers's Market on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays afternoons.

I will again be participating and offering new and unique jewelry at reasonable prices. My choices for beads and findings make my jewelry different from most jewelry makers. I search for sources from around the world--Kenya, Greece, Czech Republic and India, to name a few! I also make my own ceramic beads and pendants. It is a gray day here and this necklace reflects that color. I would call this a very organic necklace that incorporates smooth driftwood,polished jasper beads and a matte landscape jasper leaf pendant. Anyone want to make a comment? I will take positive or negative!

Spent time outside working on leaves and washed the windows. I did get a little more jewelry done for Holiday on the Hill. Here are pictures of some of the new creations, There are Kazuri beads from Kenya, Greek ceramic beads, and some Russian Serpentine stones.

All of my pieces are one of a kind and I use my own ceramic pieces, Kazuri beads from Kenya, Czech glass, and Greek ceramics, and other unique and quality beads.
