It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the shop, and the workbench is loaded with some of the most unique materials I’ve ever laid eyes on. If you’re looking for a statement piece (or the ultimate gift), you’re going to want to see these.

• The "Real Deal" Series: I’ve finished a couple of Genuine Snake Skin Dragon Pens. The texture and pattern on these are incredible—definitely not your average desk accessory.
• The Hybrids: We’re playing with new colors and textures, including a stunning Purple Pine Cone Dragon Pen. It’s the perfect mix of rugged nature and high-end polish.
• The Exotic Imports: Straight from the Philippines, I’ve secured some Gorgeous Amboyna Burl. This wood is legendary for its rich color and swirl, and I’ve featured it on both a Dragon Pen and a Bolt Action Pen.

It’s official! We are officially in our first retail spaces starting today. First off you can find a nice selection at the Manchester Craft Market located in the Mall of NH in Manchester NH. Second we just finished our space at The H.A.M. gift shop in Fitchburg MA. Please stop on by either location and help support small businesses. Also keep your eye open to see us soon at Endless Treasures right here in Jaffrey NH very soon. Now back to shop to create more items for all our fans.

What a fantastic night at MAxT Makerspace in Peterborough! 🪵✨
We had a full house tonight for the pen turning class, and I couldn't be more proud of these four students. Everyone came in eager to learn a new skill, and they absolutely crushed it! Each student walked away with a beautiful, custom-made pen they crafted with their own two hands.
I truly love teaching these classes—there is nothing quite like seeing that "aha!" moment when a piece of wood transforms on the lathe.

Where it all began... 🪵✨
Looking at this photo brings back so many memories! Back in 2019, I got my very first lathe and started turning small pieces just to see what I could create.
This was my "original workshop"—a makeshift setup inside a portable garage unit outside. It was challenging, to say the least! Between the weather and the tight space, every project was an adventure. Here is a shot of my wife giving it a try back then; she’s been with me through every sawdust-filled step of this journey.
We’ve moved up quite a bit since these days, but this is exactly where I caught the bug. I’m so incredibly happy to be doing what I’m doing for all of you today. Thank you for being part of my story!

🐍 SOMETHING RARE IS COMING TO THE SHOP...
We’ve got some big news here at Grumpy Man Creations. I just locked in a source for a material I’ve been trying to get my hands on for a long time. I’ve found a maker down in Texas who does things the hard way—he traps the snakes himself and hand-crafts every single blank by hand.
This isn't mass-produced stuff. It’s authentic, it’s rugged, and it’s incredibly hard to come by.
What’s in the works:
• The Dragon Pen: I’ll be pairing this genuine snakeskin with our Dragon hardware for a truly unique, high-end look.
• Custom Smoking Pipes: We are also planning to bring this material to our pipe line for a finish unlike anything else we offer.
The Honest Truth:
Because these are hand-caught and handmade in small batches, this will be the most premium natural material we have ever offered. There is a higher cost associated with it, but for a piece of gear this unique, it is well worth the investment.
This is about as "one-of-a-kind" as it gets.

🔥 Grumpy Man Creations - Laser Engraving Experiments! 🔥
Hey everyone! Today was a super exciting day in the workshop as we put our new laser engraver through its paces with some custom pen designs! 🖊️✨
We're thrilled with the results! Most of our test engravings came out absolutely beautifully. The detail and precision are fantastic.
The only one that proved a little tricky to photograph was the pen made from black palm.

It has such a busy, unique grain pattern that the engraving, while present, just doesn't pop in photos as much as we'd hoped. Something to keep in mind if you love the look of black palm!
On the flip side, the engravings on our lighter woods exceeded all expectations!

They look absolutely fantastic, with crisp, clear lettering. And the black acrylic pens? Oh my, they look so smooth and clean with the engraving!

The great news is that with any custom pen you order from us, we can now engrave whatever you'd like onto it! Just remember, those busier grain patterns might not appear as crystal clear as on other materials.

🔬 Experiment Weekend at Grumpy Man Creations!
The workshop is buzzing (and maybe a little bit grumpy) this weekend as we dive into some serious R&D.
We’re currently working on building a custom pen jig for our laser cutter! If we can get the precision exactly where we want it, we’ll be able to offer high-quality, custom pen engraving very soon. 🖊️🔥
The Plan:
• Design & Build: Crafting a jig to hold pens perfectly in place for consistent results.
• Test & Refine: Running multiple passes to ensure the engraving is crisp and professional.
• The Reveal: We’ll be sharing the results of our experiments right here once we’re finished.
What does this mean for you?
If we’re happy with the outcome, we’ll be adding pen engraving as a new service—offered exclusively to our clients! Perfect for corporate gifts, special events, or just making sure nobody "borrows" your favorite pen ever again.

🔨 Big News from the Workshop! 🔨
I’ve been a bit quiet lately, and here is why: Grumpy Man Creations is officially going retail! I am incredibly excited to announce that I have signed contracts with two amazing local retailers to begin selling my work starting February 1st. There is a massive mountain of work to get done to build up stock, and I’m in the shop every single day making sure everything is perfect for opening day.
Where you can find us:
📍 The H.A.M. 68 Airport Rd, Fitchburg, MA
Because Massachusetts laws are a bit more friendly for these items, this location will feature a wide selection of my handcrafted pipes, along with an assortment of custom pens.
📍 Manchester Craft Market
Inside the Mall of NH (South Willow St), Manchester, NH
This spot will be stocked with a variety of my pens and the items you guys ask for most—including our sought-after crochet hooks and seam rippers!
