So my daughter has this great apartment in Charlotte, NC and was looking for a console table in several stores there. The ones that she sent us pictures of were nice, but she wanted it to be a rich blue color so she was planning to refinish it anyway. The tables ranged in price, but most were more than she wanted to spend. One day, after getting pics of her next 'find', my wife tells her "Don't spend that much money...Dad can make one so much nicer for free". Sitting next to her on the couch, I yelled back "Wait, what? and the rest is history.
I also had to deliver it...but it gave me an excuse to go see her :)

So what do you think?

Hey there!
I've been busy with several projects lately and wanted to share some of them with you. The first was a Farmhouse TV Console that I made for a pair of newlyweds and wonderful friends of the family. This was a fun build but ended up being a little 'overbuilt' and overly heavy. What do you think?

Just had a lifelong friend tell me about an outdoor "beachy" bar cabinet that she wanted to buy at Overstock for $2,500. She sent me a few photos and I was off to get some materials. She wanted Grays and Blues and wanted it to look like old boat wood. Here's what I came up with. What do you think?

Recently, some very dear friends went through an extremely traumatic time. They had extensive damage to their home and their lives were turned upside down. After a long rebuild and many difficult days, they are almost back to normal! Since Joanne and I were only able to help "around the edges", I thought it would be a nice treat if they had a brand new Farmhouse dining table to go along with their brand new home.

I set out to build a table that was 9' long x 40" wide. I chose cedar wood because of its light weight and beautiful grain patterns. They selected some awesome industrial Cast Iron legs, and I got to it....

I used 2 1/2" thick cedar boards and doweled each of them with 1/2" x 3" dowels. The breadboards (end-pieces) were attached with with mortice and tenon joints.

Pictures were taken along the way to show progress. I added their initials underneath the table and I hope they love it and make decades of happy memories around it!

Hope you enjoy the photos!

It’s almost Spookytime! I wanted to try and make some creepy candle holders for Halloween this year for the front door. I found some old fence pieces and just started cutting....Have a great Halloween everyone!

Finally dove into a project that my baby wanted for our upstairs space. Once the refrigerator arrived, it took less than a week and cost less than $250 (sans the refrigerator) 😬

A while back, I had a custom order for some very large corbels. The client was a very creative person and likely an artist in NYC. We had a great rapport and we were able to communicate nuances of the design quite easily!

Take a look at the spec drawing that he did! This pair of corbels was a fun project that the client really enjoyed.

It's been awhile since I have posted but I wanted to share a large project with you all. It has been one of the more difficult undertakings that I've attempted so far.

My wife Joanne wanted a Farm table for our larger dining room and I naively offered to make her one. (yikes)

Since the job has spanned about 2 weeks, I have broken the photos into two parts - construction of the top, and full assembly and finishing. So here goes Part 1.

I used 10 ft x 6" x 2" Cedar boards and 5/8" oak dowels and glue connecting every board and the bread boards (end caps). Hope these pictures illustrate the process.

Once I surprise Joanne, I will share Part 2 which will show assembly and finishing! Hope you like it :)
