DESTINATION TOYS was pleased to host Mark for what would end up being, his last public autograph signing appearance.
He was a super kind, fun and funny, talented and just all around great guy.
We sure do miss him.

Some news to share.
After careful consideration, we have decided to shutter our brick and mortar location in Jacksonville, IL.
August 31 will be the last day at the current Morton Avenue location.
There are many factors that have led to this decision.
First and foremost is that Billy, who operates the shop at that location, is taking a full-time job in the private sector and will no longer be available to operate the shop.
Other factors that have led to this decision are unfortunately the lack of dedicated foot traffic actually spending money in the shop, due to so much being purchased online elsewhere, and we agree that continuing the physical storefront in Jacksonville is costing more to keep open than it is earning, where in as the bulk of our sales are online and at the very lucrative toy shows and pop culture conventions that we are part of or operate in addition to the shop, of which we will continue.
Another reason that has led to this decision is the continued theft by the homeless population who are riddled with unfortunate mental situations and rampant drug use, and greatly residing in the crumbling buildings directly across Morton Avenue from us in the former JDC complex.
It’s absolutely terrible, and if they aren’t at McDonald’s, then they are at our shop.
Some days there are 17 or 18 people waiting to sell trash bags full of junk that they’ve dug out of a dumpster or cleaned out of a house or trailer or have outright stolen and it has become an issue.

Destination Toys as a brick and mortar shop has been in Jacksonville for 11 years and it is with heavy heart that we intend to close the physical storefront and focus on what is lucrative to the trade, being as mentioned above, eBay and online as well as the many weekend toy shows and conventions, in that that is where the bread and butter is made, and that will work into Billy‘s schedule with his new private sector employ.

With people being mindful about the economy and spending money on things like food, fuel and pharmacy, our offerings in the ‘fun’ department come in at dead last, and people have closed up their pocket books with uncertain futures for their finances, especially when it comes to supporting a small business in small town USA.
Unfortunately, that support is not in existence for this venture at this time in Jacksonville.

Destination Toys will continue to buy, sell, and trade via appointment and of course on our five star eBay site, other online entities, our website, and as well as the aforementioned collectable conventions and toy shows, where we will also continue to bring in celebrity guests for autograph signings and events.
We have a couple of fun things brewing for mid autumn in Jacksonville with that as well, so stay posted to our social media and thank you for understanding.

Billy will remain at the shop Wednesday through Saturday 11 to 7 and Sunday 12 to 5 through the end of the month.
There are some items that have been greatly discounted and many other sales in house throughout the month.
We also will be offering for sale our displays and fixtures.
Please feel free to stop in and take advantage of some of this store wide sale.
