Here is the second of our weekend projects we completed today. It’s not much, but I think it really gives the area some personality.
This was another trash-to-treasure projec. The wood bordering was pulled from my nextdoor neighbor’s trash pile (and boy, did they get rid of a LOT of good wood!!)
Anyways, the whole yard is filled with weeds and trash, so we’re doing as much as possible to really clean the place up and make her look fresh with as little money as possible. Enjoy!
Items needed:
-Trash wood
-Leftover topsoil from previous projects
-Half off bag off “ripped” compost
-Plants (we chose annuals, specifically Dusty Miller, Petunias, and Snapdragons)
-Four 1/2” x 3’ rebarb rods, cut in half
For this project, we measured out where we wanted our border to be to start. This was a real challenge because the driveway is tapered and everything in our yard is SUPER uneven—but using sticks we found on the ground as markers, we got there. Then we cleared the are of unwanted debris and weeds and tried to level the area out the best we could with rudimentary tools. We decided on making 36” cuts into the wood, which my husband the drilled the holes for the rebarb rods. Once the border was in, we mixed the topsoil and compost together, laid out the plants where we wanted them, et VOILA!!!
