From the trade. Thank you to Anthony Peter Masonry for the kind words about Vito and the team. Getting the right stone to the right job is the part of the work we care about most.

Square footage counts the flats. It doesn't count the corners.

Read it: Square Feet Don't Order the Corners: A Better Stone-Veneer Takeoff
https://stoneworksny.com/stone-veneer-takeoff-flats-corners-returns/

A wall-area number is a good start to a veneer inquiry, not a complete order. Eldorado Stone, for one, estimates flats in square feet and corners in linear feet, and deducting a window or door opening does not account for its returns or special pieces. Our latest piece gives dealers and contractors a traceable takeoff framework for Tri-State stone veneer inquiries: label flat-area and corner-length quantities separately, use the selected product's own estimating method instead of a universal conversion, keep cutting allowances, pack rounding and reserve material on separate lines, and revise the takeoff whenever drawings, profiles or corner treatments change. Stone veneer supply for the trade across Long Island, New York City and the Tri-State Area.

The mortar is supposed to be the weak part.

Read it: Historic Masonry Repointing: Why Stronger Mortar Can Damage Brick and Stone
https://stoneworksny.com/historic-masonry-repointing-mortar-compatibility/

Repointing historic brick and stone means matching the mortar to the masonry rather than overpowering it. Our latest piece walks dealers and contractors through documenting masonry type and condition, reading the existing mortar as evidence, and the fact that wind, direct sun, temperature and absorption all affect curing. It closes with a dealer checklist of questions to ask before recommending a mortar product, and a clear instruction not to improvise cold-weather or hot-weather procedures. Squared form. Warm balance. Limestone Kentucky Blend by Dutch Quality Stone offers softly weathered, rectangular faces in a mixed, warm tone. The pattern reads orderly without feeling rigid, suited to facades, columns and interior feature walls. Available at StoneWorks, serving Long Island, NYC and the Tri-State Area.

Three patterns. One quick read. Fieldstone, ledgestone and ashlar cover most of the veneer specified on a job. Fieldstone is irregular and rounded, ledgestone runs in long stacked courses, and ashlar is squared and ordered. Knowing the pattern makes a spec faster to read and easier to quote.

Layered stone. Local name. Linea Ledgestone by Modano Stone sets natural stone in long, fine courses, shown in Long Island Blend alongside Coal Canyon, Mountain Gray and Silvercrest. Subtle tonal shifts give a calm, linear rhythm to facades and interior feature walls. Available at StoneWorks, serving Long Island, NYC and the Tri-State Area.

Tens of thousands of cobblestones went back where they came from.

New York City's $108 million DUMBO streetscape project, led by the Department of Design and Construction with DOT and DEP, restored cobblestones across 26 blocks and added more than 12,000 feet of granite curb, 8,800 feet of granite bike lane and 114 ADA ramps. Our latest piece looks at what it teaches dealers and contractors about historic streetscape procurement, from tracking salvaged stone as controlled inventory to separating appearance from performance specs and coordinating stone with utility sequencing. Stone and masonry supply for the trade across Long Island, New York City and the Tri-State Area.

Weathered grain. Quiet warmth. Vintage Ranch by Eldorado Stone captures the look of aged timber in engineered stone, shown in Dawnwood, Doverwood, Parchwood, Saddlewood and Stratuswood. Long, plank-like courses bring a calm, lived-in texture to feature walls and facades. Available at StoneWorks, serving Long Island, NYC and the Tri-State Area.
