It has been hard to find words that will adequately express how sorry I am that your senior year came to a screeching halt with very little warning, leaving you and everyone who cares for you disappointed and concerned over the uncertainty of what the next few months will hold. There are still many questions we do not have answers for, but we are working toward a solution that will ensure everyone will have the opportunity to earn the credits needed for graduation. Our goal has always been to see each and every one of you graduate, and we are more resolved than ever to help you achieve this goal. For those of you who need help with college and scholarship applications, the FAFSA, help reviewing resumes for job applications, or general questions about graduation status, etc. please email me or contact me through Remind. While I cannot send mass messages through Remind, I can communicate with individual students who have signed up. ([email protected] or text to 81010)
Please be sure to check your school email account often. I will be sending a link for you to sign up for Parchment transcript service, which will allow us to continue sending your transcripts to your schools of choice. I will send out information regarding scholarships as I receive them and ask that you continue to send me a copy or picture of the scholarships you are receiving. I do want to make sure you are recognized for your many accomplishments.
In addition, this week you will receive a status letter from me via the US Postal Service to the mailing address on record and via student email. This letter will either confirm your status as “on track for graduation” or will list the courses failed 3rd quarter or credits needed via grad point in order to graduate in May. Once we have a plan in place for how you will earn the credits necessary for graduation, we will communicate that information to you and will provide you with all the support needed.
Not seeing your faces each day, not being able to share in your excitement as graduation draws near, is an unfortunate reality for your teachers, the guidance staff, administrators, and other support staff you interact with daily. One of the biggest rewards for us is seeing you cross that stage…the smiles you have, the pride you exhibit. For myself, I took for granted hearing the question “Are you busy?” and the laughter that would inevitably follow. Now I would give just about anything to have each one of you pop through my door. So please, pop in my email, pop in Remind… let me know how you are doing and what I can do to help you. Hope to see you soon. Until then, take care. Genevieve Rigby, Senior Counselor
