Control is an illusion and reality isn’t what it seems. I have always been a planner and then I had kids and realized you can plan and try to control life all you want but you have to be able to pivot and allow things to flow much like design. I may buy a piece just because I love it and have no idea where it will go then boom it just works. There’s always more than just what meets the eye when it comes to design… ✨

This project was completed for the amazingly talented, Kristie Ford] who is also the photographer capturing all the Grit & Pearl projects you see on our socials and even helped me jumpstart my career. Small touches such as a silver camera decoration on her desk represents pieces of her individuality as a photographer. Details like this allows us to tell their stories in all the little design aspects of their homes. Kristie Ford] 📸

Long post ahead ………..Really in my head today, thinking of all the things I’m grateful for and I was overwhelmed w gratitude knowing I get to do what I love everyday. Design for me isn’t just about working with different styles but working with various people and personalities. I love the report, connection, the creativity that comes with the job. I don’t want to just design a space. I want to create a space that is functional, lived in, curated, a space that speaks of their experiences, their travels, heirlooms passed from generations before, thrift finds, or the first piece they were able to afford in their small apartment 15 years ago and now they are placing it in their dream home. The pieces come together, marring the past to the present allowing space for growth and the love and creativity the future will bring. I just can’t believe I get to meet all of these wonderful people and see their life unfold before me. I am grateful to all of my clients and I am looking forward to what the future has In store for the Grit and Pearl. We are building something beautiful together and I am here for it!
