Over the last 8 years that we have been building and planting our Christmas Tree Farm we have found a total of 4 horse shoes while working up the ground. It’s just something I find interesting and fascinating. Makes me think of a time before tractors or any modern day farm equipment, back when the land was worked with a horse and a single bottom plow pulled with the farmer at the reigns. This is one of 2 I found this spring. What do you think, is it from that era?

Spring is a busy time here on the Christmas Tree Farm. Currently we are working on picking all the new growth of pine cones off all the trees. This is a very tedious and time consuming job but necessary so the trees aren’t over grown with big, ugly, brown pine cones come this fall. Picking cones now is much easier, once they harden off they are harder to remove. Some trees can have 50+ cones on them and they’re all removed by hand.

So far it’s been a hard winter for the deer and in turn it makes it a hard winter for us as the deer start to turn towards eating all the new buds on our young trees. The trees in these two photos were planted in the spring of 2025. Hopefully the weather lets up sometime soon so we can minimize the deer damage. This will set these trees back for sure. ☹️

Whats new on the farm? Well, Kevin got a whole new knee on Jan 2nd. He should be fully recovered by planting season, we hope 😉. Also, as you can see from the photo, we added a new tractor. We bought this nice Ford 4000 on Dec 27th. This tractor will be used for 2 jobs here at the Tree Farm. #1 It will be used in the spring to pull the tree planter. #2 It will be used to pull our hay ride wagons during the Christmas Season, starting this year! That’s right, Wagon rides around the farm in 2026. Stay tuned throughout the year to see what’s new.

We are offering free tree recycling here at the farm. The entrance is open and you can drop them off to the left of the green sales shed (near fire pit). Real trees only, no artificials. Have a happy new year and stay tuned for some big updates over the spring, summer and fall of 2026.

Thank you
Kevin & Kim Jones

Now that Christmas is officially over, we are turning our thoughts to spring planting. April is just around the corner. Here is a flash back photo of our Granddaughter from our 2020 planting season. Farm manager #1 of 4.
