This past Sunday was Uncle Rudolf's Records last ride as I laid to rest my used record & CD bizness at the Crossroads Music Show in Indianapolis.
I started very humbly in 2009 when I thought being a record dealer sounded like a great deal of fun. And fun I have had totally immersing myself deeper into my love of music and vinyl. Probably the best thing was making so many great friends in the process—for which I’m forever grateful. I learned much more about music—and of course—picked up quite few fantastic records for myself along the way!
So, in 2025, as I continue to downsize material possessions, it seemed the right time to bid adieu to one of my favorite pastimes. I sold every last thing on my table yesterday and that’s it!
I would be remiss not to thank a number of people who helped make all the fun possible. First and foremost, to my wife Carol for being 100% supportive throughout all the craziness. Gerald & Nan Ruark, Jeff Reuter, Tammy Rossman Dyson, Sherry & Roger Stiver, and Rob Coyle all played significant parts in my journey along the way.
Uncle Rudolf’s Records had a colorful history and I’ll elaborate more on that—and the roles of the above-mentioned people—in another post.
Sharing the gift of music has been a lifelong passion, but now it’s onto other vistas like devoting more time to my music writing. A BIG thanks to everyone who has come along for the ride somewhere along the way. It’s been a gas!
