If you’ve ever been curious about feminist, womb-cleansing or new age paganism, you’ll find this book fascinating. The author was a practitioner in this world for many years, and paints a memorable picture of it.
I had no idea how many parallels there are between modern and Greco-Roman paganism; ultimately, as Sister Anastasia shows, the same spirits—demons—are involved, seeking worship, rewarding their followers (or punishing them, as the case may be). Ritual is a standard part of modern paganism, as of old; also psychotropic drugs culled from native plants, which have their own “spirits.” All the varieties of present day paganism reject the dichotomy of good/evil, the fall, and the idea of sin.
The author’s path changed dramatically when she met an certain Orthodox elder. He became her spiritual father, and blessed her to write this for her own healing...and our edification.
I can’t recommend it too highly!
