Every day’s walk gives him something to enter: three squirrels in a large tree, a jay flying across such a field, a caterpillar climbing up a nettle, a snail eating a cabbage leaf, a spider dropping suddenly to the ground, where he found ground ivy, how it was growing and what plants were growing with it, how bindweed or ivy manages to climb. Innumerable matters to record occur to the intelligent child...he should begin to illustrate his notes freely with brush drawings...
as for drawing, instruction has no doubt its time and place; but his nature-diary should be left to his own initiative.

Are you guys on the ANALOG BAG trend?
If this is a new idea to you like it is to me, let me catch you up. An analog bag is a curated bundle of non-digital tools to help you be more intentional with your time. Have you ever been guilty of saying “I wish I had more time for my hobbies” while also racking up hours of screen time? I know I have! I want to be more intentional when I’m out and about, waiting in line or at appointments, but it’s just so easy to grab the phone and start scrolling... unless you come prepared!
The great thing about our journals is that because they hold such a variety of inserts, it’s like a full analog bag in and of itself! It varies from season to season, but right now I’m carrying a Gratitude, Prayer, To-Do, Commonplace, Blank lined with Juniper notes, and Blank lined for school notes. I have others that I have used and slipped in and out as I’ve noticed I’m not using them as much anymore and replaced. These notebooks along with a good read are keeping me busy while I’m out and about and waiting somewhere! Is your journal working for you? If not, maybe you just need to keep tweaking your inserts until they are serving the season you’re in! And save the ones you slip out! You may still use them in a different season!

Here’s something a little different for me, but when I saw Rifle Paper’s Easter line, I just thought this fabric was dying to be made into an Easter/welcome spring basket! Fill it with some good books, some Juniper Grove, and a cute stuffed animal 🐰. I have made myself several of these baskets and they’re just so cute sitting on a shelf as storage baskets!
*This will be a very limited run so we can ship them out in time for Easter!

Last night I made three Tech Pouch all in Book Club. And today Olivia made a Bible Bag to match 📚. I never get tired of playing with this fabric! 🥰

We are closing in on our 8th Christmas season. What a ride it has been! Some people ask me “why journals?” And that answer goes back a loooong time. We didn’t do big christmases when I was growing up so I don’t have a lot of memories of particular gifts, but I do remember one year probably around the age of 6 that I got what I would now consider to be a dollar tree journal in my stocking. It was hot pink puffy plastic and it had a fold over flap that velcroed shut. I might as well have been handed the moon. Fast forward to high school when I dove head first into Steven Covey and his 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I had a good job as a bank teller at the time so I saved up and bought myself a genuine leather full size planner. I planned my days and set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals with a 5-year plan. I carried that thing everywhere - and I still have it 😉. Recently I saw a college friend that I hadn’t seen since starting my business, and she said “I laughed out loud when I found out you had started a business making journals! Of course you did! My image of you is walking down the sidewalk to class with your Covey planner tucked safely in your arms!” Fast forward again to my own kids starting school and the notebook keeping we were doing… there had to be a better way! And now we have expanded beyond just homeschooling to see that journaling is such an important part of life - assimilation and remembering! Digital tries to take over but pen and paper will always be king. The connectivity between brain and hand movement is something that typing on a keyboard will never replace. I love sharing the beauty of journaling with you all and am so grateful to those of you who walk beside our family on this journey! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our small business this holiday season! We love creating for you!!
