Well, my friends, I suppose all good things come to an end. Hopefully, though, new good things start where the old good things ended. It's been 21 years since my move to Indy and 11 years doing full-time repair for all you fantastic musicians in this town and parts around. I've learned a lot from this business and especially from all of you who trusted me to work on your favorite instruments. It's been a good run, but it's time for me to move on and try something new. In January, I'm going to be moving my family south to Brown County, Indiana, and starting a job at Hilltop Christian Camp. I grew up there, love it there, and just couldn't pass up the opportunity to go back home. I don't think I'll miss the city much, but I will miss all of you who stepped through my door and allowed me to be your luthier. You've all been kind, patient, encouraging, and a ton of fun, and many of you have transitioned from clients into friends. That's the best part... you can never have too many friends. Till we meet again, God bless and play on!

For Flattop Friday here’s a recent 1950’s D18. This crispy flatpicking machine was in for a full re-fret and setup. It had a perfect handful neck shape and that fundamental, warm and woody tone you’d expect from a vintage mahogany Martin.

My assistant JB wanted this one badly, we let him get a few G-runs in 😉

Neck reset #2 of the evening - this 60’s Gibson LG with the very suave original Dearmond soundhole pickup. it’s a Friday night and we’re tackling 2 neck resets over here. First one is a 1970 D12-35
- doing a full neck reset, fretwork, making a custom pick guard (should they stick with black?)
This slotted headstock old Martin is going to back to its former glory by morning!
