John Thomas Greeley, 82, Indianapolis, passed away on May 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the owner of Northwest Lumber Company which he and his father started in 1956. He was a member of the International Wood Collectors Society. John was an avid runner and was a member of the Indy Runners and The Stompers. He was a pacer at the spring training program for the Indianapolis Half Marathon. He was also an adventurer of the world, traveling the globe often by bicycle. John honorably served in the United States Army as a Communications Specialist in the Fulda Gap (Germany) with the 14th Armoured Calvary Regiment. John loved the outdoors and was a supporter of The Eagle Creek Park Foundation. John was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eva (Combs) Greeley, his sister, Marcia Greeley Gruner. Survivors include his children, John H. Greeley, Michael (Emily) Greeley, and Anna Greeley Thompson, his sister, Catherine (Paul) Jensen, 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Tiffany), Daniel, Jessica, Justine, Charlotte, Ashley (Aaron), John Andrew, and Amanda, 3 great grandchildren, Mitchell, Parker, and Colson. A celebration of John's life will be held Friday, May 26, 3 pm, Crown Point Cemetery, 8200 Crown Point Road, Indianapolis 46278.
