My mom is my biggest cheerleader, the one I call for anything, a phenomenal cook, a selfless human, one of my best friends, and a breast cancer survivor. October is breast cancer awareness month, and it’s a significant month for so many people and it’s a month that forever changed my life. I’ll never forget the day eight years ago, the moment my sisters and I found out our mom had breast cancer, will forever be etched in my memory. The news that was my worst nightmare quickly became our reality. My mom was brave and quickly took the reins, being an advocate for her body and her health through it all. She made hard decisions, stayed brave through every treatment, surgery, and was still a rock for our family through it all.

I’m writing this to celebrate my mom, her strength, and to honor her fight and to encourage you to become an advocate for your health. I can’t stress this enough, please please please do self examinations, be your own advocate, and get your regularly scheduled exams.

I can’t put into words just how much my mom means to me and how proud I am to be her daughter. I do know this - we got lucky the cancer was found early and was treated quickly and we are lucky everyday because we still have her. But it breaks my heart that not everyone can say the same. For everyone who fights this fight or has a loved one who is, it’s not easy, but there’s nothing quite like the strength of a brave woman 💛

October is breast cancer awareness month and I thought this quote was great at pointing out the irony of so many efforts related to "breast cancer research" signified by wearing pink, but we know much of the breast cancer problem has to do with what women are exposed to over the course of their lifetime through personal care products, their environment, their diet, their detoxification pathways and practices.

Of course a component of breast cancer risk is genetics and we want to have excellent options for women if they get a breast cancer diagnosis, but even cancer.org states that only 5-10% of breast cancer cases are hereditary meaning related to genetics, and even then "bad genes" like the BRCA gene have to be turned on by a cancer-causing lifestyle, and inversely they can be turned off by a cancer-preventing lifestyle.

So shifting the focus to what has happened in the past few decades to create so much more breast cancer today than ever before (despite a lot of funding and NFL players wearing pink for research into a cure!) I and many other experts believe will actually start to solve the breast cancer problem.

One thing you can do today is get access to the WellBe Non-toxic Product Database for over 2500 vetted and curated non-toxic products (with their scores from various 3rd party rating organizations) in categories like home cleaning, personal care, kitchenware, food brands, etc.)

Assume everything other product that's not in the database has artificial estrogen chemicals in it...because it likely does. Link in bio and this pic to access the database and take a step for breast cancer prevention. Anyone else think we need to go upstream rather than just wear pink to fund research toward treatment options?
