Today, Nutrition Educator, Megan, visited Cathy’s Hope in Homer City. Together, they tended to the garden beds built last month. This month they transplanted and talked about how to harvest from their garden. They even learned easy remedies to deter garden pests.

The women took lots of notes, asked questions, and were very excited to know they will be harvesting watermelon and strawberries from the backyard!

Thanks natureworksfarm for the plant donation 🥰

How does the Community Garden work? Who plants? Who harvests? Who manages? Where does it go?

VOLUNTEERS!! Clubs, groups, community members, your co-workers, your neighbors, our educators, businesses, etc. Without volunteers, the garden would not survive. We rely on YOU!

The food is grown by you, for you! Distributed once a week at the Harvest Tables at Chevy Chase Community Center. Harvested by the Harvest Coordinator, Garden Manager, and other volunteers. It takes a COMMUNITY of people to create something so amazing.
