For all of you that been following our little trip to Texas. - when we got here we were staying in an apartment until we could figure it out where we wanted to live in Texas, didn't want to rush ourselves into a bad decision but to be honest living in an apartment with a Great Dane and walking behind it to pick up after it was not fun, at all! So after Christmas Ginger and I went house hunting and was amazed about the competition for pre-existing houses most of them were getting 10 to 20 bids, it was a joke. So we ended up looking for new construction and unfortunately the property tax here in Texas 2.75% so it forced us to move a little outside our Target area, so we ended up in a small town called Haslett Texas it's about 20 minutes north of Fort Worth. We're extremely happy with the house and the neighborhood we bought into is a master plan community and when completed in the next couple years will have 10,000 houses in this development. Currently we have two elementary schools for our neighborhood and one middle school but they're building the second. The high school is just a couple miles down the road. The development has green areas with biking and walking trails we have four swimming pools four club houses we have our own baseball field soccer fields basketball courts and Tennis Courts and two fishing lakes. It really is a lovely development. And we're thankful that we are able to find it in such a housing market Fiasco. Here's some photos. Thanks a lot guys

It's been a year since we closed our business at Annabelle Marketplace in North Carolina and we're both missing it tremendously we had so much fun and met so many great people

Since we've moved to Texas we have went to many Marketplace stores and in some ways they're the same but in most ways they're different. there isn't a large abundance or call for custom-made furniture for whatever reason. when we go to local stores and look rarely do we see a piece of custom furniture, we rarely see a piece that's been refinished or reimagined and hardly ever see a piece that's been painted. Just like everything else in Texas its a lot different then what we are used to.

So as of now Ginger and I haven't made a final decision about reopening Davis gift shop Texas style, it's something that we talk about often but I just personally don't see the market but then again it wouldn't cost a lot of money to take a shot at it. So who knows what the future will bring

What we have decided to do in the meantime is a travel throughout the area we're looking at New Mexico Arizona Utah Colorado Louisiana, anywhere we can go in a for an extra long weekend with that being said we did buy a convertible to enjoy those road trips. Our first trip with the top down will be the Colorado Springs in the next couple weeks. After that maybe Route 66. Who knows.

Again Ginger and I want to thank everyone that has supported us over the years and has followed along with our little journey to Texas. We both wish we were back in North Carolina with their friends and our little small business but Texas has its own unique charm and we're looking forward to getting to know the area better.

Thanks again for everything guys it may be a while before we post again and we may end up shutting down this site but we just want to say we appreciate you

Peace
Ginger & Bob

a long overdue update:

Ginger and I has spent the last couple months getting the house ready for sale and happily it's sold in 3 days. Yippee no more constant cleaning, paint touch-ups, organizing and thankfully no more showings. We've also took the time and went to Dallas for a week to find temporary housing until we know the area where we want to purchase our next house. Trying to find an apartment with a Great Dane was an unpleasant Adventure for whatever reason everybody thinks these Goofy Gentle Giants are aggressive so out of the hundreds of Apartments in the general area of where Ginger will be working we found about a dozen complexes that would accept our 140 lb couch potato, But it was successful we found a very nice place that was suitable for the next 9 months or so but whoever says Texas is cheap to live, wrong. Next is closing on the house and actually getting to Dallas which will be in the beginning of October. Thanks for everyone following Along on our little Adventure and I really appreciate everybody coming back and checking in on Davis gift shop page. Will keep you updated.

Peace,
Bob & Ginger
