Did you know you may qualify for $50 in benefits to purchase locally grown fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut herbs, and honey at participating farmers markets?

The Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP) is now accepting applications through the Independence Public Library. Benefits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait!

✅ Must be age 60+ (or 55+ and a member of an Indian Tribal Organization)
✅ Must meet income eligibility requirements

📍 Apply in person at the Independence Public Library
🕙 Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
📅 Benefits available June 1 – November 1, 2026

🌿💚 A HUGE thank you to Independence High School, USD 446 Independence FFA for helping make downtown bloom! 🌸🌱

From the beautiful hanging baskets downtown to the planters at Patio 210, these flowers were grown right here in Independence by our incredibly talented students. 🌼

These students did it all — planting, watering, feeding, hanging baskets last week, and transferred the plants into the planters at Patio 210 this week! Their hard work, dedication, and hometown pride are helping make our downtown more beautiful for everyone to enjoy this season. 🌿✨

We cannot wait to watch everything flourish throughout downtown Independence this year! Thank you for investing your time and talents into our community. ❤️
