Dear Friends and Customers of Seaside Candy and the IB Community;
Firstly, above all, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support through the events of the past few years. From the pandemic to the sewage polluted beaches, local businesses have suffered heavy losses from which many could not recover.
As we close the doors on Seaside Candy a window is opening for Bonehead Burgers who officially take over on June 1, 2024. Unfortunately, to make room for the new, I regretfully must close of my long-standing business.
This decision was made with a heavy heart but excitement for my future. After weighing all the pros and cons, I feel I am making the right decision for not only myself but the community at large. I am blessed to have the founders of Bonehead Burgers, Kit, Chef Bone & Angel as friends and I know you will also see a friend in them. They have exciting ideas and plan to bring fun and incredible food to Imperial Beach. I wish them well and hope you welcome them like you did me all those years ago.
The hardest part for me will be saying goodbye to a community that has accepted me and supported my dream since our opening in 2011. I have had the pleasure to meet and become friends with so many wonderful and interesting people. It warms my heart when I think of customers coming into Seaside Candy and reminiscing about the nostalgic candy we carried or remarking on the historic antique memorabilia while remembering good times from their past. Our hearts filled with joy and our days became brighter with every scoop of Ice Cream, every block of fudge, every milkshake, and every party we hosted over the past 13 years… I will miss the opportunity to continue to experience all of that.
I was lucky to be able to watch numerous local kids grow up over the years as the candy shop was a favorite hangout for so many, and for so long. I fondly remember, “Hey I use to come here as a kid” being one of the best things I could ever hear from a 13-year-old repeat customer. It was a reminder that time does not stop, it just keeps making more amazing memories.
