We are so saddened by the loss of our dear friend and coworker, Kelly Glissmeyer.

Kelly was a mentor, a gifted storyteller, and a constant source of wisdom for anyone lucky enough to chat with him. Not only was Kelly a Southeast Idaho legend, he was a legend in the fly fishing world. He was always eager to share his knowledge, and you always had something to learn from him. He will leave an immeasurable void in our community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Note: In respect of Kelly’s life and to allow our community to attend his services, our Saturday Fly Tying Demo is cancelled. Thank you for understanding as we honor a man who gave so much to this sport.

Come visit the Fly Shop this Saturday, February 14th @ 10:30am to see John Schultz tie!

I tied my first fly at age 10 using my mom’s sewing basket, vice grip pliers, and feathers from my own pillow. I only caught one fish that day, but it changed everything.
From learning under the “Guru of the Green River” to 17 trips to Alaska and becoming a Ambassador, it’s been quite a ride. These days, you’ll find me and my wife Susie chasing flat water across Utah, Idaho, and Montana.
The gear has definitely improved since the pillow feather days, but the obsession remains the same.
-John Schultz

Mr. B***y Shaker himself will be tying for us this Saturday! Join as at 10:30 am to watch Kelly Glissmeyer demo some of his famous patterns!
I have been fishing for most of my 67 years and fly fishing for fifty of them. I started fly tying over 40 years ago with tools and materials I received from Craig and Jackie Matthews of Blue-Ribbon Flies while my wife and I lived in West Yellowstone, MT.
I did not begin fly tying in earnest until moving to Idaho over 20 years ago, where I was invited to demo at Jimmy’s and moved on to various western expos as a demo tyer. I have contributed flies to various publications and have written articles for such. I was hired by Flyfisher magazine as their Fly Tying editor having several years of tenure.
I focus my tying on spring creek and emerger patterns some of which have been featured in numerous publications. Many of these patterns have been most effective and account for many successful days on the water.
I will demo a few of my favorite flies along with my ‘B***y Shaker’ stonefly articulated dry fly, the first of its kind and published several years ago. I look forward to tying at Fly Fish Food Jimmy’s and in continuing the long-time tradition of Saturday tying demos.

This Saturday, February 1st at 10:30 am, join us as shop boy extraordinaire, , demos some of his favorite patterns!

I was born in Salt Lake but raised on the waters of the Henry’s Fork and the many streams of Yellowstone National Park. I’ve been fly fishing all my life along with the rest of my family. I love being outside enjoying God’s beautiful creations especially in areas where you can find large Brook trout. When I’m not on the waters or in the shop, I’m tying flies with my dad filling up our never ending boat boxes with all sorts of flies. My dad taught me to be a dry fly purest but the streamer world has fascinated me for years. I’m not a poetic writer like my dad but I think trout are the prettiest animals in the world and I like to give my flies obscure names that only my brothers and close friends understand.

Bungs, bo***es, and buzzers OH MY!

Now that we have your attention, join us this Saturday, January 18th @ 10:30 am join us as Curtis Fry showcases some specialty Stillwater patterns!

Curtis is an OCD fly tyer and avid business & technology ju**ie living along the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. He grew up in western Idaho and the high deserts of eastern Oregon fishing for bass, trout, carp, catfish and whitefish: basically anything that swims. He started tying flies way back in high school in the 80s when he needed a way to fool high mountain brook trout that were eating giant black ants at one of his favorite alpine lakes. He is a signature tyer for Fulling Mill and has developed a number of fly patterns over the years. Curtis and Cheech founded Fly Fish Food in 2013 and have since expanded the business with two retail locations and a high volume fly fishing e-commerce practice that keeps everyone on their toes.
