Always a popular note, this stunning 1907 $5 “Woodchopper” is no exception. Graded 65 PPQ by PCGS, this is a crisp and bright gem uncirculated example. They certainly don’t make them like they used to. Among my all time favorite notes, this one didn’t last long. SOLD

Check out this Choice & Wholesome Original 1843 Seated Liberty Dollar. A very attractive example with that golden dusty brown look I so often find myself paying up for. Gorgeous Original Surfaces and Genuinely Excellent Eye Appeal, Lustrous throughout in hand. I’m tempted to keep this one for my own Seated Type Set. NGC graded this one VF30, which I think is rather conservative. Lightly Circulated Seated Dollars are always in demand and I try my best to hunt for quality over quantity, which for this series is pretty difficult. This one will be for sale when I return in a couple weeks from my European Hideout!..

An Outstanding Piece of Roman History, and maybe even passing through the hands of Julius Caesar himself, here is a Superb Roman Silver Denarius minted by a military mint traveling with Julius Caesar as he crossed the Rubicon in Northern Italy with his legions and entered Rome. This beautiful specimen has fantastic overall eye appeal and is graded Choice XF by NGC, with near perfect 5/5 surfaces. A glimpse into the era that would lead to the birth of the Roman Empire.

I’m back in France until early 2024, but nonetheless I will keep posting sweet coins! All are NFS until I return and we are back in business.

One of my Favorite Series, Capped Bust Quarters seem rather under appreciated, and in my eyes provides a great value. This 1818 was the first year of a major mintage of quarters by the US Mint, with 361,000 being struck. This mintage was the largest mintage since the quarter was introduced in 1796 and wouldn’t be beaten until 1831. This 1818 has very attractive original surfaces and is
well-struck for the grade. A very pleasant survivor indeed. This coin is SOLD.

Here’s an Excellent 1841 “River Scene” Frankfurt Germany Double Silver Thaler, Wonderful Original Eye Appeal and a very Attractive Example for the grade of NGC XF40. Popular pieces, these River Scene Frankfurt Double Thalers hold an interesting story as to the union of Thaler and Gulden. It also marks a period of great success for the city after joining the German customs union in 1836. This Piece is SOLD.

Here’s an Excellent 1915 Austrian Gold Four Ducats that I got graded for a client from France. As many of you know I spend a lot of time in Europe. NGC has stepped their game up and these PhotoVisions they did look fantastic! This Coin depicts Emperor Franz Joseph I and the reverse shows the Hapsburg Family Coat of Arms. These 1915 restrikes were minted by the Austrian Mint from 1920-1936. These beautiful large gold four ducats are almost half an oz of 98.6% gold. This coin was graded MS64 by NGC.

A pretty cool and rare coin, this 1711 German Saxony “Vicariate” 1/2 Thaler was struck upon the death of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph I. These coins were issued in the interim before a new Emperor could be elected. This elevated the status of the Vicar who then had many of the same powers of the emperor. A pretty tough coin to find with such nice eye appeal, an attractive even gun metal grey and some luster left in the devices. After enjoying the coin for a while a savvy collector scooped it up within minutes. PCGS XF45. KM-802.

Here’s a pleasant 1750 Silver Shilling from Great Britain under the reign of King George II. He reigned from 1727 until his death in 1760. George II was very passionate about the military and displayed courage when fighting at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743. This was the last time a British King appeared on an active battlefield!

Proof-Like Surfaces, Frosty Devices, a Dash of Vibrant Toning, and a conservative grade, makes this coin a CAC no-brainer. A common coin with some nice bells and whistles, and I’m all about the bells 🔔 😎. 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS MS64 CAC. Toner Tuesday edition

Here’s a Sweet 1829 Mint State Charles X French Silver 5 Francs. Quite a rare specimen in NGC MS62 with this coin being Top Pop for this issue minted in Lyon, France. I actually was in Lyon a couple weeks ago, such a beautiful and historical city. This coin is a true Mint State coin with proof like reflectivity and bright luster. Solid strike as well. Going off to its new home today, purchased by a client with exquisite taste in World Crown Coinage.

While a super common coin, this 1881-S has superb eye appeal and a very pretty mix of toning. Tones of orange, blue and red mix together to give a pink sunset “golden hour” flavor of toning. This is far from a “Monster” Toner in my eyes but it is a great example of excellent eye appeal. The term “Monster” should be carefully used in today’s numismatic marketplace as I have grown tired of seeing it literally everywhere. A Morgan with a little bit of crescent toning on one side is not a “Monster” and “Rainbow” toning is another term that has burned into my head over the last couple of years 😂. Enjoy this beautiful Morgan for Toner Tuesday, graded MS64 by PCGS. This coin is available $145 if interested.
