Here's a case of "looks can be deceiving....Madison Ol' Timer, looks like it has been laying around forever, but indeed it is a new CBG designed to look like a relic!
🚬The 3-string cigar box dobro guitar. utilizes a modern Tabak cigar box from Drew Estate Ci**rs : The Rebirth of Ci**rs that luthier Jeff has distressed so it appears aged. He fashioned the resonator from a paint can lid, aging it with various acid treatments to remove the shiny finish and designing custom artwork for a fictitious gunpowder company to complete the look.
🌲The neck and headstock are crafted from hickory harvested in Northern Alabama. Jeff "eroded" the headstock and neck heel to make them appear as if they had been rotted from age. The 25” scale, 1.5” wide yardstick fretboard is made of maple and features artwork that celebrates the historic Harrison Brothers Hardware in downtown Huntsville, AL. The side fret markers are inlay of wenge wood. The headstock is adorned with a vintage fork handle, while the fork tines secure the strings at the tail.
🎶The electronics include a single-coil pickup with a Coke bottlecap volume control and ¼” output jack. The pickup cover has been designed and fabricated to look like a common mousetrap.
And yes, it's available in Studio 106 at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Come give it a strum this week. Hours: Weds, Thurs, Fri. 15 and Sat 11-6
