Related situation we ran into was resolved quickly but just curious for future reference:

If you're walking down the street and see a set of keys in someone's door, and *no one answers* when you knock/ring the bell, what do you do? I'm thinking either take them and leave a note with a number/email/address, or hide them under the mat or somewhere and maybe tuck a subtle note somewhere saying where you hid them? Whatever you do you'll probably look sketchy for a moment, unfortunately, but personally I'd be grateful to a neighbor for taking them out of the door, esp if there's a car fob on there!
