Demo of the Elder No. 2 🎶 This build was a gift to a dear friend and is the second Skyrim inspired lute dulcimer I’ve built. Apologies for the slow playing but I’m still figuring it out.
I’ve always admired the lyre-lute look of the Skyrim lute but wanted that lyre functionality. So to make it play more like a later renaissance lute with those rich bass strings I added them on the left side. But sticking to my love of mountain dulcimers the fretted strings are in that single, single, double grouping however the fretboard is chromatic. Tuned DADD so it’ll play like a chromatic dulcimer/3-course Greek bouzouki. The strings are all nylon or wound nylon for that classical sound. As far as wood species I used maple and kiaat for this build and a type of rosewood for the fretboard.
I’m loving those low bass drones btw
