šø Well⦠hi! š
I realized weāve gained quite a few new faces around here, and after accidentally ghosting Facebook for a while (turns out growing flowers is a little more time-consuming than posting about growing them š
), I figured it was finally time to introduce myself.
Iām Kate, and together with my husband and our four kids, weāre the family behind Birch & Bloom Flower Farm. I just happen to be the one who spends most of her days in dirt and talking to the flowers and bees.
On any given day youāll find me planting, weeding, harvesting, replanting, arranging bouquets, washing buckets, checking the weather like somehow thatāll change the forecast, replanting again, and convincing myself that I definitely donāt need to buy more flower seeds. (Spoiler: I usually lose that argument.)
My husband, Paul, and I are raising four amazing kids, and somewhere in the middle of the beautiful āCope chaosā (as I like to lovingly refer to it) of family life, we decided to chase a dream and start a flower farm.
Some days this dream is really hard. But every time I hand someone a bouquet thatās about to celebrate a birthday, brighten a kitchen table, welcome a new baby, or honor someone they love, Iām reminded exactly why we started
I wonāt pretend I wake up every morning excited to pull weeds (because⦠absolutely not š
), but I do love a challenge. And Iāve found thereās something incredibly grounding about getting your hands in the dirt. It reminds me to slow down, breathe, and trust that growth usually happens a little at a time.
People often ask where the name Birch & Bloom came from. The ābirchā is a nod to Michiganās Upper Peninsula, a place that has always felt like home to my heart and where some of my favorite memories are made. After losing my father-in-law, the name took on an even deeper meaning. Birch trees are known for resilience and new beginnings, and that felt like the perfect symbol for this new chapter our family was stepping into.
To me, Birch & Bloom has never been just about growing flowers. Itās about creating beauty, celebrating lifeās happiest moments, bringing comfort during the hardest ones, and sharing a little joy with our community.
If youāve bought a bouquet, signed up for a subscription, shared one of our posts, recommended us to a friend, or simply followed along and cheered us onāthank you. Every order supports our familyās dream, and every bit of encouragement means more than you know.
Iām so grateful youāre here, and I canāt wait to keep growing right alongside this wonderful community.
