I went downtown early this morning after I watered Carol's garden. I hung out most of the time by the river. And then talked to Adam and his dog, Barbara for quite a while. Barbara lets me play frisbee with her. Eventually I took a peek at the car show that was going on around the d**e entrance and up Walnut Street. I ran into Evy Nerbonne, and talking to her before I head it home. Between first street and third street, I realized I didn't wanna go home that soon, so I took a left and went to Brueske's Bread on the corner of 3rd Street and Vine Street. I've been here a lot lately.

I walked in and Hannah was working! It was nice to talk to her for a little bit. Hannah is Dave and Julia's daughter. She is the one who wrote the nice Star Observer article about the kids last year, that got the attention of Boyd Hubert, and brought about the big news story. I also got to talk to her mother for a little bit and she let me take a picture of us.

I eventually got this basket of bread and toppings. A cool new thing they recently started. It's only $6 for 2 of the Loafli rolls with butter, 2 kinds of jam, and honey. So good. It was an hour before I took the first bite. And it took me three more hours to finally finish all the bites.

I talked to a mother and daughter, then two ladies, then a married couple, and then I talked to a dude, all in a row. They replaced each other at the same table throughout the day and by the time I walked away from Brueske's, it was five hours after I got there. Oops! I had no idea what time it was and I thought all the different people were joking when they said they were talking with me for over an hour, to the next person sitting down at the table they were leaving.

I am so sorry that I forgot your names. But I think I remember some so I'm gonna take a shot, Karin (sounds like car), Jen, Lisa, John, and I can't think of any others. If you read this, please correct me if I'm wrong so I can fix it. Or tell me your name if I didn't say anything. I'm so sorry that I talked to your almost all of your ears off for over an hour each.

I even ran into another Evy (Evgenia) that worked for us at Urban 7 or 8 years ago. Her brother eventually married one of our other employees, Claire. Another small world event, even though I already knew that. I also saw Toot and her daughter and got to give them hugs. I haven't seen them in so long. They had a stand in the sun too long while I talked too much. 😬

So all in all, I left the house at 630am and spent 3 and a half hours downtown, before walking to Brueske's and spending over 5 hours on their patio. Holy cow it's after almost 330pm and I haven't gone to Louise's house yet. I better hurry up. Now she has to listen to me talk for a bunch of hours.

So I was walking around the south side of the riverfront most of the morning and taking pictures of points of view I haven't taken pictures of before, and I listened to the entire Nylon's album that I listened to in Carol's apartment the very first morning we woke up after our unexpected first date, IYKYN.

I did not think about this album or think about listening to it until I posted it to my previous post. I talked about it a little this morning and then decided to listen to just the one song since I was gonna have you guys listen to it. Then, I just kept it on and listened to the whole album while walking around down here.

Now for some reason, I wanna go back through her collection of cassettes and cds and start listening to things that she would have listened to way back then. I guess my obstacle is gonna figure out how to listen to cassettes and cds. 😮🤣

After I get home later, I'm trying to figure out, what the help of google, how to get my entire phone gallery and Carol's entire phone gallery on my laptop. I'm scared of losing things. I still have her phone and I still pay for it and I still look at it a lot and download pictures once in a while to my phone. But I'm afraid of accidentally losing any or all of them. All these videos have taken up all of my phone space, and it's asking me to delete things. I've deleted so many things that I'm now mad and sad about. I'm just trying to figure out how to get it all onto my laptop so I have enough room on my phone to still do videos.

Wish me luck cause I don't know what i'm doing. And I'm not smart enough for dropbox, and one drive and the cloud. I've tried, and I’m just too dumb, and it's too confusing to start setting up accounts. I just want them all on my laptop, which has a crapton of space.

Now I think i'm gonna walk to the other side of the d**e, where it looks like there might be a car show happening. I don't care about cars, but they look so old and pretty, and I'm probably gonna hang out there for a bit.

Not much to say other than what I said in the videos. Maybe since I ripped you guys off from recording down at the river, I'll just take a bunch of pictures this morning and type some meaningful words later.

I guess I just rambled on about not much today. Gardens and music. Maybe that's enough.

The first song I ever listened to, from an album Carol had, the very next morning ee woke up from what you guys now know is still our first date. Why would I wake up and start rummaging through her stuff? And listening to her music without even asking? 😮🤣

Edit - and now I'm sitting on the playground way down past the boat launch listening to the rest of this album. I listened to this whole album and another one of their albums the morning we woke up after the first time ever going out. And then I listened to it again and again, over however long, because she liked it. I was instantly infatuated with her and everything she liked.

But then she would get stuck listening to The Cure and the goth and metal stuff, when it was my turn. She was not infatuated with me, are my music. She did like my favorite Depeche Mode song that I directed at her, Somebody. I'm actually thinking of venturing out with my lyric tattoos and getting the lyrics to this song. Tattooed on my leg along with the lyrics of one other band song that is directed towards carol or how I feel. We'll see if I actually go through with that. Here's the song. The first song I played for her that was not The Cure. THAT SAME MORNING!

I didn't think about these 2 particular songs or their deep meaning in our relationship, until this morning. 😢💔

What was that first sentence I typed?
I guess I had much to say. 😬

Thank you Tiffany of Blooms for Happiness for the beautiful flowers I found when I got home.

I left this house this morning around 6:30am, and when I got back around 7pm, there were flowers on the table in my room. They look and smell amazing, and it's even more amazing that you fit so many different varieties in one little jar vase.

If I'm being honest, I don't know if they're from you or if someone ordered them from you and brought them here or if someone ordered them from you and you delivered them. All I know is that you made the arrangement and it looks beautiful.

Either way, this made me feel really good tonight, especially after getting another nasty comment from someone (a local) today about how I grieve. He seems to have a need to attack me and how I grieve and how I ran our business after Carol died.

Thank you 🥰 I needed this pick me up.
And just in time, since I finally had to get rid of the flowers that Lilly Benzer got me for my birthday on July 22nd. It's amazing how some of these flowers can last so long.

The morning started out well and then it got harder and then it got worse, and then I could barely walk when I finally got back to the car. But I loved it, and it weirdly might be one of the favorite walks I've taken. No rivers, no lake, no waterfalls, no water at all. But I really liked it.

Sorry, I'm making you listen to another long video on the same day. But there was a lot going on and I had a lot to say. 😬 Plus my day started off rough, and I didn't even know what to talk about or type. So you got the old videos in the earlier post.

I was thinking of going to St. Croix Falls today, but then I remembered that Louise might need to be driven to a hair appointment this afternoon. If that appointment happens, I don't know what time it will be, and I didn't wanna be an hour away when she tells me about said appointment. So I had to go in a different direction this morning.

I knew I wanted to skip downtown Hudson and Willow River today, so I just googled "trails in Afton, closest to Hudson" and it led me to this trail. The Belwin Conservancy - Stagecoach Trail. It's only about 10 or 12 minutes from the house. Although it took me almost 25 minutes, because the google lady got the map wrong around the bridge construction and took me all the way to Manning, instead of telling me to take a left at the first exit just over the bridge from hudson. Oops.

Anyway, i'm just gonna leave all these photos here of this trek on the other side of the river.

I had to edit this later. Because I took a break, add a bench in the middle of nowhere to type this post.

Holy cow is there a lot of area to walk and there's a lot of different paths that I didn't look into before I started. I took two wrong turns that I know of and I must have taken a big wrong turn, because all the path labels to what I would call the red path with the leaf disappeared, and I ended up near the orange and yellow paths and decided the yellow path has a flower on it as it symbol so why not go that way. Holy man, was that a rough trek. Dirt, gravel, uphill, downhill, steep hills.

What is it called when I hated this and liked it at the same time. When it feels good and it hurts at the same time. The only opposites i'm used to feeling now are being happy and sad at the same time, if i'm around Cocopop and Carol can't be here

Man alive! Another edit.
I thought the yellow path was hard. Then I went to the purple pass cause I had no choice and I thought that was hard. But then I decided to detour to the darl blue path, because it had the picture of what I thought was a river, and that's the hardest so far. Ugh, what did I do?

At least I got back to the car before the heavy rain started.

Belwin Conservancy I'll be back.

I have a question for you. I took a boatload of video while I was walking around these trails for the last four hours. If I post them as stories, there's gonna be a bunch of stories, and they're all gonna just delete tomorrow, and not very many people look at the stories. Would you guys be okay if I did another post with all of the walking around the trail videos? I know I already put a big twenty minute post out so it could be annoying.

08/07/2026

This is not from today. Nothing popped in my head this morning, so you get this compilation of videos because I didn't know what to talk about.

I'm out walking, and I didn't want to talk because of a bunch of negative in my head. I've been negative a lot lately. Obviously, that's an understatement. Not bad, angry, negative, but I've just been kind of negative and sad in my posts. Enough that I miss saying something happy memory on throwback Thursday. I can't think of anything uplifting or happy memory stuff to talk about right now, so I thought I would post all these miscellaneous videos together from this past week. Things I recorded in the moment but didn't put out there for some reason. Probably, because I had already given you guys a twenty minute post on each day.

Obviously there's things I could try to talk about about me and my sad and my grief. And there's things I could talk about when it comes to Carol and us and happy memories. But nothing popped into my head. And I can't contrive something just to record type. That would be fake in Chad's world. A few situations/conversations happened the last couple days that just knocked me down and added a bunch of anxiety, so I thought I'd give you a break. No one was bad or mean or pushy or toxic. They were just conversations that I wish were different. Maybe I'll try to do the happy memory post tomorrow if something pops into my head.

In the meantime, I am gonna do another post of pictures in a little while because I am walking at a new place that I have never been at. No one told me to come here. I just googled it this morning in the car because I didn't know how to go or where to go or what to do. I couldn't make a decision, so I asked the google lady in the car where to walk.

I hope it's not confusing listening to all this miscellaneous mixed up stuff i'm a video. I think I may have even been a little silent in one or two of them.

My tattoo touch up appointment with Smiley was finished, and I was hungry and across the street from Dragon Pearl Chinese Japanese Restaurant, so I thought I would go there since I haven't been there for quite a while. I think the last time I was here our restaurant was still open. I also figured that I'm headed out to Louise's house to hang out with her, so why not surprise her with lunch.

Both of our schedules have us eating later lunches, so it should work out. If not, we'll reheat everything for dinner. Either way, I'm hanging out with Carol's mom for the rest of the day. This is also good because tomorrow morning's garbage day and I can take her dumpster down the 6 or 7 mile driveway to put it on the side of the road. Whatever, it's a long driveway.

I think it's kind of easy to surprise her with this because I know she likes a beef broccoli dish. She's ordered it a lot from other Asian restaurants we've gone to. I also know she likes no spice. I'm thinking I can't go wrong. I'm also thinking that she's so polite that she's not gonna tell me if she doesn't like it. 🤣

So that's what I got her, the lunch special Beef Broccoli with fried rice and an egg roll. I got myself the Singapore Mai Fun, because it's my favorite dish there. I got it with the combination meat. I always get the combination meat in a dish if anyplace offers it. I also got in order of Egg Drop Soup. Another favorite. Theirs is the best.

If you've been here you know everything is great.
If you haven't, it's great.

Thank you Kpree.

Nice talking to you, LeAnn and Jack. I will tell Louise that I ran in to you.

I guess I'm continuing the trend of mostly Asian restaurants over the last several weeks. I have sprinkled some other flavors in there too. I just realized that I've had a lot of conversations about slowly getting out and about more and wanting to eat out more. I guess I have actually eaten out a lot over the past month or so. So it's kind of happening without me, trying very hard. Maybe I figured out my loophole. Just eat out every time i'm leaving an appointment or on my way to or from somewhere.

Go to Dragon Pearl, and every other restaurant I tell you to go to. And tell them I sent you.

08/06/2026

I'm at Rivertown Tattoo in downtown Hudson this morning. I had an appointment with Smiley at 11am to get my most recent tattoo touched up. It is the tattoo of Carol's left hand on my left hand. If you remember, I took a picture of Carol's hand on my hand the morning she died. I just wanted a picture. It wasn't because I eventually wanted a tattoo. At that point I had never had a tattoo in my life and wasn't thinking of getting one.

So the first weird thing for me was getting a tattoo. The second weird thing was that I got 22 tattoos in 11 months. All being Carol, something about Carol, something of Carol's, or some being towards Carol (like the lyrics). The third, and weirdest thing, is that her ashes are in every tattoo, except the lyrics. The forth weirdest thing is that my last tattoo was on May 4th. I haven't gotten one sense. That's when I stopped having the urge to do much of anything.

Part of me wants to think about more tattoos that I have in mind, but for some reason I feel the need to get the latest three all touched up and finished before I move on to the next. I'm not positive what the next will be, but it might be seeing Mariah to fill in most of my left arm with some cool stuff we have planned. After that it could be anything. Although before that, I think I might want one more song lyric in a spot on my arm.

There's a bunch of other tattoos I've thought about, but it's the planning process that gets me. Most of what I'm thinking about, besides some more lyrics in other spots, is going to take planning on my part and taking a bunch of pictures from different angles and or dispaying items for a good picture. I'll see how that goes. We all know that I lack the planning and organizing abilities.

Anyway, I love this tattoo, like all the others, and i'm glad I finally got in to see Smiley ( Italo Orea ) at Rivertown Tattoo again, so he could touch it up and finish it. My next touch up on my right hand is in two weeks.

You could do other things at Rivertown
