Michigan is considering a ballot measure that would force businesses to accept any and all returns, and would expand the deposit law to include many new containers.

This would very likely cause our business to close, almost immediately. We would be unable to afford to comply, and even if we could, we'd be unable to afford the labor needed to handle the new volume of returnables. We would also struggle to have the space needed to store the returned containers.

Below are links to the bill, the UP state senator, and the bill's sponsor. We would appreciate if people would express the need for exemptions for very small businesses. Thank you.

Tomorrow we will be open from 11am to 5pm so we can spend some time with our family on the holiday.

Everyone remembers going to the local store to buy candy as a kid. We have that same memory.

So, this summer, if a child stops by to buy candy while out playing or riding their bike, we will give them 25 cents off any candy bars, bags of gummies, or theater boxes.

Let's do what we can to allow kids to enjoy the magic of childhood this summer.

Sunday 11-7
Mon-Thurs 10-8
Fri and Sat 10-9

Update on our decision to rely less on companies that wish to gouge our customers.

Starting tomorrow we will be replacing some Coke products with Point Brewery sodas from a small company in Wisconsin. $1.50 per 12 oz glass bottle. Made with real sugar, and not "high fructose" chemicals.

Coke, at least in Houghton county, is raising prices by nearly 40% on all of their products.

Would people like to see cheaper alternatives like Dr. Thunder and Faygo be more prominent? We feel like selling you a Faygo 2-liter at $2.50 is better than selling you a Coke 2-liter at $4.

Starting Friday afternoon, in front of the store, we will have a "pay what you want" vegetable stand. The following things will be available on it;

Tomatoes
Green Peppers
Potatoes
Onions

Hopefully this helps some who are struggling. If it works out well, we will continue to do it throughout the summer.
