Just an FYI - before you start your dishwasher make sure you turn on your garbage disposal first to rid the waste and clear your pipes for the dishwasher to drain its waste. If you don’t do this, then your dishwasher water will likely have nowhere to go and cause a back up in your sink.

Not everybody’s sink and dishwasher will be plumbed like this, but just keep it in mind.

Do you like to use self clean on your oven?

Sorry to tell you this, but you’re destroying your oven. 😒😒😒 Running a self clean on your oven does nothing but wear it down faster. If it’s not a component that eventually burns up or breaks your glass will probably shatter out of nowhere and you’ll be left wondering why.

“Well how am I supposed to clean my oven then?”

Old-fashioned elbow, grease! If you want, get some easy off from the store, but personally I like to use Dawn soap cause it breaks down the grease and oils pretty well but that’s just me.

Unless you want to see me, I would rethink about using self-cleaning. Till next time!

Well A & G Appliances took a hit today. Someone broke into my truck. Sadly im no stranger to this. This happened in the Summerwood area at Home Depot off of Beltway 8 and Westlake Houston. There’s very strong evidence that they were after cash however little do they know I carry no cash on the truck. Everything in my truck is accounted for fortunately just needed new glass. Reviewing video footage they were in and out of my truck before I even walked into the store. 😳

Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. People are always watching!

Good morning. Just your local friendly neighborhood repairman here. Just wanted some of you to be mindful of a problem that is pretty common. If you happen to have a whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator that looks like this one with ice in the door try not to open the door a full 180°. Basically do not open the door as wide as it will go 100° 90° should be good enough.

The reason why is because there’s a wire harness at the bottom of the door and sometimes if you stretch the wires by opening the door too wide, it will break those wires and prevent your icemaker or icemaker motor from working and no longer producing ice.

Just keep that in mind! Unfortunately, the only thing you can really do is just be mindful of how wide you’re opening the door.

5 to 7 years. If your appliance was able to get 5 to 7 years before it’s first repair then you have achieved the expected life of most modern appliances built after 2015. Some things are repairable and you gain some more years and some things are better to just replace the whole appliance but give me a call or send me a message and I’ll try to help guide you the best I can.

Good morning! This is a GE electric dryer. The customers complaint was it’s making a squeaking noise. When I started investigating, I noticed there was a metal drawstring cap that you normally find on hoodies, stuck on the top bearing. I removed the object put the dryer back together and dryer is good as new!

This was not a costly repair and my customer was very happy.

My point here is you’re always going to get honesty and integrity with A & G Appliances. Sometimes things that might seem like a big problem may turn out to be a very small problem if you go with the right company!
