Lisle Violin Shop is saddened to announce the passing of its founder, Mark Lisle.

For over 35 years, the mission of Lisle Violin Shop has been to further the success of all string players so that their lives are continuously enriched through musical learning and performance. Under the management of Mark Lisle’s son Matt Lisle and son in law Nehad Abdulhameed, that mission will remain intact.

Mark, along with his wife, Margaret, opened Lisle Violin Shop in 1984. His vision was to provide students and educators quality instruments, rentals and repairs at affordable prices. Even as the shop was expanding to its 4th location in the greater Houston area, Mark personally worked to support orchestra programs across the state of Texas. It was Mark’s joy to watch programs grow and flourish, and to see generations of string players grow up and become musicians or educators themselves.

For the past 15 years, Mark had mostly retired to his ranch in Paige, Texas, which he greatly loved. He spent his time working on the ranch and his beloved cars.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the TODA Memorial Scholarship Fund (https://www.todaweb.org/scholarships). Due to family requests and Covid concerns, the funeral service will be limited to immediate family.

Updated Mask Policy: Effective March 10th, 2021

Although the mask mandate in Texas has been lifted, Lisle Violin will continue to require all employees and customers to wear face masks due to the high infection rate in the Houston area. Lisle Violin Shop adheres to the CDC recommendations and requires all our employees to wear masks, social distance, wash hands, and sanitize high-touch surfaces frequently. Additionally, for customers unable to wear face masks, we offer curbside delivery upon request. The health and safety of our customers and employees continue to be our top priority.
