Howdy kids, happy Sunday! Some new things to show ya, I just got some new dies from the U.K. and they are really great! The Celtic skull. It’s got a vibe. Some see Star Wars, some see Punisher. Either way it’s cool!

The Anonymous mask aka the Guy Fawkes mask. Weird. Spooky. Very cool and interesting history behind this classic mask!

The poison bottle. Check out the details on that skull & crossbones! These are all fine silver “plop” pendants. I melt fine silver (the same amount each time) and pour it into an ingot mold. Whatever shape it takes that’s what I use. I press them into the dies to create the impression using 20 tons of pressure. This is the result! They are chunky substantial pieces, perfectly imperfect, just like me. I kinda like them. Come by the this Saturday and tell me what YOU think of them! I wish you all a great week!!!! Be kind!

Hey kids happy weekend!!! I’m proud of this piece!!!! Don’t get me wrong, it’s FAR from perfect. Soldering has been my nemesis for as long as I’ve been making jewelry. I’ve avoided it until I cannot avoid it any longer. Hell these 2 pieces don’t even belong together but I had to start somewhere!!!! So I stopped making excuses (.weld.wood has heard every damn one of them!!!) and I grabbed them. And the torch. And some other stuff. And did my best to level up. It’s not there yet but it’s incredible progress for me so it’s win and I’m taking it!!! This is also one of the first pieces I’ve made from scratch!! The longhorn head is a steel stamp by It’s stamped in copper then cut out with a saw (3/0 blade). The cow tag is fine silver. I rolled it out and used a pattern plate to make the pattern and a pancake die to cut the shape. Then some sawing and filing. Then the soldering. The next ones will look so much better I promise! But for now I’m celebrating this victory!!!!! Come by the next Saturday and say howdy and tell me what you think.

Hey there howdy! How’s things??

Meet Bertha!!!!
I’ve only known one person named Bertha, my maternal grandmother. She was the first Artist I ever knew. Her and J.C. (My grandfather) owned and operated a ceramic shop and for years they did the ceramic show circuit all along the gulf coast. She loved to paint porcelain figurines, she had a paint brush that wasn’t much wider than a human hair, and when she painted the eyes on those figurines you’d think they were going to wink at you! She had such a talented eye and hand!!! I think of her often when working on something tricky or delicate.

This ain’t THAT Bertha though!!! This Bertha is based on the Grateful Dead song of the same name (happens to be my favorite Dead song as well!) Anyway, here’s Bertha! She’s made of fine silver. I was gonna cut them very symmetrically with a pancake die but instead I went with the jewelers saw. I drew what resembles an oval on each piece then just kind of went freehand. Like most Deadheads they are not symmetrical, I think I love that about them the most. Hey come on out to BAM this Saturday from noon-7 at the Silver Street warehouse, 2000 Edwards street and tell me what YOUR favorite Dead song is, and tell me what you think of Bertha! I’ve got 3 or 4 of them if you’d like to take one home!

There’s a special sound a saw blade makes when it breaks, nothing else replicates this sound. It can cause a range of emotion and colorful language!!!! Sawing like this is something I’ve avoided over the years. Because it’s hard. But that’s not a reason anymore so I’m still torturing myself. But I do like the results. With most sawing you start at one edge and cut across to the other edge. This is the “piercing” technique. Drill holes, stick the blade thru the hole and you start there. Movement has to be much slower and more attentive, especially when changing direction of the cut. And hope you don’t hear that sound…..first one of these I broke at least a dozen blades. I only lost 2 on this one. PROGRESS!!! Stay hydrated kids. Be kind. #420

Hey howdy! How are ya? I hope all is groovy in your world! I’ve always been a peace sign fan, so given the opportunity to do this seemed like the right thing to do. Then I started…..if you ever need to question your own sanity give this a shot, it’s one of the more challenging things I have attempted in a while. This is a 1964 Kennedy half dollar, 90% silver, all hand cut using a jewelers saw! No lasers, no pancake dies, no machines. Just a saw, and a 4/0 blade. And some perspiration. And I probably said some things I shouldn’t have. 😂🙈 getting between those feathers was a particular challenge, I will get better with the next one, but for now I’m pretty ok with this one! It will be at BAM August 12th at the Silver Street Warehouse. Come by and tell me what ya think! It’s ok I can take it…..have a good evening my friends, be kind to each other!

Hey howdy and happy Monday!!! We (I) have been tagged in several media posts about WLN (White Linen Night) which caused some customers to ask if we were going to be there. Just wanted to say tic Jewelry will NOT be showing at WLN this year. BUT you absolutely can and should catch us and about 90 other phenomenal people, makers and artists the following weekend at BAM aka Big Ass/Art Market. At Silver Street Saturday August 12th! It’s free. There’s conditioned air. And other cool stuff like this fine silver sugar skull pendant that I made with my own little stubby fat fingers!! So put us in the books for August 12th at around 11am or so and come on by to say howdy! It’s been a long hot summer and it will be great to see you all! Stay hydrated!!!! Be kind!

Howdy kids, happy Monday! I hope y’all are all doing well and that everything in your world is groovy! Getting ready for the big ass/art market coming up August 12th here in Houston! Any friend of Bill out there? I’ve got you covered with these really cool rings made from sobriety tokens that have The Serenity Prayer on them. These are the only tokens I’ve seen (there could be others) that you can actually read the entire prayer after it’s made into a ring! These are brass, my smallest is a size 5 and they go up from there. They make stunning rings!!!! Come check them out at BAM!!!!! Saturday August 12th! Be kind friends!

Yo happy Monday! How the heck are ya? Been pushing some metal around. I’m using some old silver half dollars for these pendants. Trying to keep the detail of the coin AND still get the impression is the mission. It’s a fine line!!!! These and more will be at BAM August 12th!!!!! Stay tuned…..

Next project with these supercool AA/NA/JFT coins…..to saw out the center of the coin and try to make a pendant!! Never sawed brass before, it’s definitely less forgiving than silver!!!! But I’m diggin the look, I think the finished pendant will be awesome!!! Hope you all had a great weekend!!!! These were I’ll be available at BAM in Houston August 12th!!!

Hey howdy!!!! Welcome to summer! It’s hot out there, so let’s make some cool stuff! Like these lovely rings that feature the Serenity Prayer. Aren’t they cool? I love the font on this one, it’s one of the few I’ve seen that keep the entire prayer intact after manipulating the shape!!! There will be a pendant made from the middle section featuring the saying “Just For Today”. If you know, you know….oh and BAM returns to Houston August 12th!!!! It’s BAM 2!!! Or BAMBAM! Or BAM the sequel……it’s a Big Ass (Art) Market, and it’s the event of summer!!!!! Mark your calendars NOW!!!!! Play safe, be kind my friends!!!!!
