Happy indigenous peoples day........
Happy Indigenous People’s Day! From the streets to the big screen, we celebrate Native brilliance and joy. We’re still here. We’re telling our own stories to bring to life our dreams of abundant Indigenous Futures.
Today we’re pleased to share original artwork by Ernesto Yerena (Yaqui/Xicana) for . Native TV shows like Reservation Dogs have shifted pop culture and shown our power as Native artists and storytellers.
Culture moves faster than policy. Native characters like Willie Jack show us and how powerful we are as Native peoples, tribes, and communities.
Check your voter registration deadlines and status today to ensure your voice and vote is heard this November. We need Native peoples to show up at the ballot box to vote to ensure a more just and equitable world for Indian Country.
“Willie Jack represents an Indigenous movement happening within pop culture and Indian Country. It is not often that Indigenous peoples can say they see themselves in someone on TV, but Willie Jack’s rawness, skepticism, and unapologetic approach to life make her layered, which myself — and this community as a whole — can relate to. This type of representation is power for our people, and when this community mobilizes, it truly can’t be tamed.” - Ernesto Yerena
Indigenous peoples must come together to support future generations.
What will you do to support building power for Native peoples?
