Apple Cider Vinegar For Skin
Wouldn't it be just amazing to have a secret potion that would set everything perfect? For years I have been thinking of some wonder product or food item that can be multipurpose. Something that can treat my hair and skin right, that can keep me fit and healthy at the same time helps my mum with some of the most basic household chores. Believe it or not, that wonder product is lurking somewhere in your kitchen shelf, voila! it is vinegar. Vinegar is something that can be put to a lot use altogether. Unfortunately, we in India are not great fans of vinegar.

What Is Vinegar and What Makes It a Good Cleaner?
Dozens of different types of vinegar come from this double fermentation: Balsamic comes from a unique blend of grapes from southern Italy, wine vinegar from red or white wine grapes, apple cider vinegar from apple cider, rice vinegar from rice, and so on.

A Starter Guide to Buying and Storing Vinegar
In my decades of calling myself a serious home cook, of hanging out in the kitchen and structuring my weekends around ambitious recipes I call “Saturday cooking projects,” there’s one thing I love above everything else: vinegar

Red Wine Vinegar

Red wine vinegar is made from, yup, red wine. This means that the secondary flavor (behind all that tang) is fruit. Of the wine vinegars, red wine tends to be punchier, with more vibrant grape flavor. The flavor is hot and robust, the opposite of delicate. In the same way you’d pair red drinking wine, we like red wine vinegar in marinades for red meat, stirred into hearty lentils or gazpacho, and mixed into zingy vinaigrettes, especially when the salad has a creamy or cheesy component. If we’re talking about an Italian salad, we’re reaching for red wine vinegar.

Black Vinegar

This smoky-flavored Chinese vinegar comes from unpolished rice and can take between one and three years to ferment. This process causes the vinegar to darken, its flavor and scent to ripen in intensity, and its content of vitamins, minerals and amino acids to rise. It is a staple sauce in Chinese and Japanese cuisine.

White Wine Vinegar

While there's an obvious (but slight) difference between white vinegar and distilled white vinegar, there's an even larger difference between those and white wine vinegar. This wine-based product has more in common with red wine vinegar. They're made the same way, just with different grapes.

You'll be able to tell this wine vinegar apart based on its color. It will be white to yellow-white, and clear. The flavor is going to be different, as well. According to Fine Cooking, all wine vinegars — like white wine vinegar — are milder and less acidic than white distilled or cider vinegars. White wine vinegar is also less tangy, sour, and sweet than red wine vinegar and balsamic vinegar, per MasterClass. Overall, the taste is clear and mild.

Balsamic Vinegar

Balsamic is one of the least daunting types of vinegar. Familiar Italian dishes like Caprese salad are generally known for being doused in the stuff. But there's more to know about it.

According to Serious Eats, the first written record of balsamic vinegar dates back to 1046, when the Holy Roman Emperor was presented with a bottle. For a while, balsamic vinegar was only known to those in Italy, especially in the region of Emilia-Romagna — which is home to both Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italian provinces where balsamic vinegar is produced), per Italy Magazine. The provinces still play an important role in producing some of the world's most traditional balsamic vinegars today. However, the production of certain balsamic vinegar varieties is no longer restricted to these areas, reports Food & Wine. In the past, this vinegar had to be produced in Italy to be considered legit.

Distilled White Vinegar

White vinegar is the cleanest, sharpest, cheapest vinegar of the bunch. There really isn’t anything else going on here, except for acidity, and that means that white vinegar is a blank canvas, waiting to be painted by other flavors. Since it welcomes other ingredients and is cheap enough to use in high volume, white vinegar is our favorite for pickling vegetables or making chicken adobo. It’s also our official pick for using as a non-toxic household cleaner, and adding to baking soda to make papier-mâché volcanoes erupt.

Rice Vinegar

Made from fermented rice, a.k.a. rice wine, this kind of vinegar is a prominent ingredient in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese cuisine, and is slightly different everywhere it is made. The mild, barely sweet flavor is the least sharp of the bunch, and that mellowness also makes it the most versatile to cook with, bringing a slight hit of acid that won’t overpower the rest of your dish. Whether we’re seasoning sushi rice, making a marinade, seasoning cooked vegetables, or dressing salads, rice vinegar is a real workhorse in our kitchens. It’s also important to note that rice vinegar comes in regular and seasoned (with added salt and sugar) varieties. For the clean rice vinegar flavor we love, we almost always reach for the regular.

Martin Pouret Red Wine Vinegar

Martin Pouret is Turkell’s go-to for wine vinegars. They’re made in Orléans, once home to hundreds of vinegar producers (supplying about 80 percent of France) because of its location on the Loire River. When wines traveling by boat to Paris from other parts of the country went bad on their journey, they would be unloaded at the port of this coastal city. Left consistently with spoiled wine, many residents turned to vinegar-making, but now Martin Pouret is the only one left. “They’ve been making vinegar for around 400 years, with the same barrel-aged process they’ve always used,” says Turkell, who likes to use the brand’s vinegars for anything French, especially sauces like hollandaise and béarnaise.
