The new owner and I closed on the sale of the bookstore on Monday and I am now on to a new life phase concentrating on journalism, writing, and art - working from my cottage/studo in Hotchkiss. Just completed this small new piece today. "Numbered" 8" x 12" Original acrylic on masonite panel.

Very good obituary and bio of John Nichols, one of my very favorite writers. I first read The Milagro Beanfield War in about 1976 when it had first came out in paperback and I was living in the San Luis Valley just north of Taos and the area he was writing about. The book was already a legend among my hippie neighbors.

Considered by many as one of the finest writing talents of his generation and best known for 1974's The Milagro Beanfield War, he died Monday of heart-related problems in his
