When should hardwood floors be refinished instead of replaced?
Hardwood floors don’t always need to be replaced just because they’re showing their age.
If your floors are scratched, dull, faded, or the finish is worn—but the wood itself is still in good condition—sanding and refinishing may be all they need. Refinishing can bring back the natural beauty of the wood and give your room a completely refreshed look.
Replacement may make more sense when there is significant water damage, extensive movement or damage to the boards, or when you’re ready for a completely different flooring style.
