Balsam Hill Farm Balsam Hill Farm is a no-spray Christmas tree farm that follows many natural growing practices. We hope you can join us at the hill and see what's growing!

You can find our farm by accessing Barrett Hill Road from the Hope side off of Route 235 (Buzzell Hill/Hatchet Mountain Road). The field is located in Hope and cannot be accessed from the Union side of Barrett Hill Road.

For all those of you who have been very busy and are just getting to the point of being able to choose your Christmas tree or if you follow a tradition of putting up a tree closer to the holiday, do not worry about finding a fragrant balsam fir to complete your seasonal decor. BHF has a nice selection of pre-cut choices for you ranging in size from five feet to approaching seven feet with something to surely suit your need. Beginning today, Friday December 19th through Wednesday, December 24th or until sold out, BHF will offer any remaining fragrant balsam fir Christmas tree at a special price of $40.00. We also have a small selection of Maine-made wreaths available for your choosing with a special price of $25.00 for any size. The farm is open until Christmas Eve or until sold out using the honor system. Please place your full payment by cash or check in the red honor box. There are signs at the honor box to guide you. The events of this weekend were some of the biggest reasons we chose to be in business here at Balsam Hill Farm. On Saturday, we witnessed the kindness of a local Belfast family who purchased a second wreath and passed it on in the spirit of the season to another family shopping at the farm. Today, another local family purchased multiple trees so they could pass them on for other families to enjoy. The kindness and generosity in the spirit of the season was very moving. Balsam Hill Farm will be open again this week using the honor system Monday through Friday, December 15th-19th for our customers who are not able to visit the farm during the weekends. There is a nice selection of pre-cut fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees still available and a limited selection of Maine-made wreaths to complete your holiday decor. For this event, the choose-and-cut fields are closed. Please do not cut trees from the field. Please place your full payment of check or cash in the red Honor Box at the entrance to the pre-cut area. There are signs at the Honor Box to guide you. Twine will be available on dry days to assist you in getting your tree safely home. All good things must come to an end? Well... maybe just a little bit here at Balsam Hill Farm. The choose-and-cut fields are now closed for the 2025 season. There is still a very full selection of fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees in the pre-cut area ranging in size from table-top to seven feet plus. There is also a nice selection of Maine-made wreaths to complete your holiday decorating. The farm is open today, Sunday December 14th from 9am until 4pm. We happily accept cash or check for all purchases and there is twine available to secure your perfect tree for the journey home. BHF will remain open this holiday season until we are sold out. Everyone at the farm appreciates the opportunity to share in your holiday traditions and thank all of our customers and friends for the support of this small Maine business. It's another holiday weekend and Balsam Hill Farm will be open from 9am -4pm both Saturday and Sunday, December 13th and 14th. Local artist and illustrator Jack Bakley will have his holiday card selections available for purchase again this weekend at the farm. You can also contact Jack directly at peninkmaine.com. The choose-and-cut fields are open on Saturday with a limited selection of fresh fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees. A decision is pending on whether or not the cutting fields will be open on Sunday. There is a wide selection of fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees waiting for you in our pre-cut area as well as a full selection of fresh Maine-made wreaths to complete your holiday decorating. As always, we accept cash or check as payment and there is twine available to assist you with securing your prefect tree to your vehicle for the journey home. The snow may have faded some but not the holiday spirit at Balsam Hill Farm. We are open today from 10am-4pm using the honor system with a very nice selection of fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees. The wreath rack is fully stocked with fresh Maine-made wreaths in three sizes to complete your holiday decor. There is twine available to help you tie down your perfect tree for the journey home. The Honor Box is back for week two! For those who have work schedules or other obligations on the weekends, Balsam Hill Farm will be open again this week, Monday, December 8th through Friday, December 12th using the honor system. A nice selection of pre-cut fragrant balsam fir Christmas trees and Maine-made wreaths is available to choose from. For this event the choose-and-cut fields are closed. Please do not cut trees from the field. Please place your full payment by cash or check in the red honor box located at the entrance to the pre-cut area. Twine will be available on dry days to assist you with tying down but it is suggested that you bring straps or rope in the event it is needed. The address is 67 Barrett Hill Road, Hope. Please don't forget that access to the farm is from the Hope side of Barrett Hill. Happy Holidays!

What a second weekend at Balsam Hill Farm! A heartfelt thanks to all of our customers and friends who came up to the hill this weekend. Saturday the mood was magical as a very light snow fell over the farm and Sunday the bright sunshine took the bite out of the cold weather as families enjoyed the farm choosing their perfect tree. We appreciate everyone who allowed us to share in their Christmas tradition and look forward to it for years to come. Happy Holidays!

It is a chilly start to the second weekend of the season here at Balsam Hill Farm. That will not cool the spirit of the day though as everyone at BHF will be looking forward to visiting with more of our customers and friends. There is a wide selection of fresh and fragrant choose-and-cut as well as pre-cut balsam fir Christmas trees to choose from. A full selection of Maine-made wreaths is also still available to complete your holiday decor. Access to the farm is from the Hope side of Barrett Hill. Again this year, by popular demand, Balsam Hill Farm will be offering fresh, fragrant pre-cut balsam fir Christmas trees and Maine-made wreaths using the honor system. Not everyone can shop for their tree on the weekend so BHF would like to continue a way for our customers to have the opportunity to select a farm fresh tree for their holiday enjoyment. Customers may select their tree from the pre-cut area of the farm. Signs are placed at the entrance to the pre-cut area for guidance. Payments in full by check or cash may be placed in the red honor box. For this event, the cutting fields are closed. Please do not cut trees from the field. On dry days, twine to assist with tying down your purchase will be available.

Day two of opening weekend brought another festive atmosphere at Balsam Hill Farm. Even with pending weather closing in on the Mid-Coast, spirits were high as many customers and friends came up to the hill to reconnect with their family tradition. It was nice to take time to chat and catch up as well as see how much children and families have grown over the past year. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! What a great opening day! Everyone at BHF is so thankful for the turnout of our loyal customers and our friends who helped make today so special. We had a chance to visit with many people who are customers for multiple years including since the time that we first opened six years ago. It was a festive atmosphere and the weather cooperated allowing everyone the opportunity to choose their perfect tree.
