It's here! Happy Nēnē Awareness Day! 🥳

Let's celebrate Hawaiʻi's state bird, the nēnē—the rarest goose in the world and a great example of conservation success.

The incredible recovery of this threatened species is thanks to the fantastic work of conservation groups, including Haleakalā National Park and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Did you know that Friday, September 26, is Nēnē Awareness Day? These geese are Hawaiʻi's state bird and the rarest goose in the world!

Being from Canada, I find their story particularly interesting: the nēnē is a relative of the Canada Goose, but adapted to live in Hawaii.

As a threatened species, they still need our love and support to continue their recovery. Conservation groups, including Haleakalā National Park and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, are doing incredible work to protect them, and I'm so excited to celebrate these beautiful birds in a big way this Friday!
