So many mistakes.
That should be the title of my leadership journey and could've been the title of the book.
Bad decisions, bad choices and botched relationships.
All, my fault.
I had to have surgery to extract all of the bad ideas, trainings, advice and guidance I was given on what it meant to lead.
Just kidding, there was no surgery but it was just as painful.
I used to think that learning about things in school that I thought werent important, was a pretty painful experience;
Nope.
Very few things are more painful than the process of unlearning traits/tendencies/ideas that could be potentially harmful to the people I had the privilege of leading.
Facing the reality of your own inadequacy leads to two possible outcomes;
denial - never growing past your current level of development.
Or....
Acceptance - recognizing that you must confront the limitations within you in order to be the best version of yourself for the people you lead.
The Fight To Lead is about that process of acceptance. It's just that; a process.
I share my failures and limitations in an effort to help you skip a little of that pain.
It's a myth that experience is the best teacher.
The truth is the wise man learns from the mistakes of others.
The Fight To Lead is a collection of that pain.
