It's a yarn holiday! Local Yarn Store Day is Saturday, April 25. Stop by the shop to check out new yarn (Cascade Merino DK, and new colors of 220 Wave and 220 Superwash), new needles (ChiaoGoo Quads), and an awesome selection of free patterns with purchase (thank you to and for their generosity in supporting yarn shops!). We'll have some snacks, a drawing to enter, and plenty of space to hang out and do crafty things. Join us from 11am until 5pm.

The hat fundraiser for is also still happening - new hats have arrived, some coming all the way from the UK. Thank you to all the knitters/crocheters who donated hats for such a good cause. We have hats for your head and 2D hats to pin to your lapel or a bag. Everything is donation based and whatever you donate will 100% go to Called to Care.

The current snow flurries don't make it feel quite like spring today, but the daffodils popping up say otherwise. Local artist Deb Meek has new, colorful egg ornaments in the shop, and there are still a couple bunny felting kits available.

Have a safe day to everyone who is out there protesting!

Thank you to the generous knitters and crocheters who volunteered to knit red hats and donated them! Together, we raised $450 for Called to Care Canandaigua. There are still a couple hats and a handful of pins left in the shop - any donation made will be sent to help people in our community. We will keep this going as long as needed. Feel free to join us on Saturdays to knit/crochet/make with others, drop off anything you want to donate, and send people looking for red hats this way. Extra big thanks to Margaret, who knit so many hats and donated care tags to attach to each hat.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our red hat party last Saturday on Valentine's Day! Some generous fiber artists donated hats to help us raise money for Called to Care in Canandaigua. If you have a hat to donate, please feel free to drop off at the shop tomorrow, Saturday Feb. 21, for the fundraiser next week.

We will be knitting again tomorrow (does a Saturday go by that we don't knit?) and welcome you to join us. Anytime between 11am and 5pm. The pattern for the small hat is available, too, which makes a great pin! The tea kettle will be on and we will have chocolate to share. Everyone welcome!

This Saturday we are having a red hat making party! We are knitting/crocheting the Melt the ICE Hat, which people can donate to help our local refugee population (or of course just make for themselves!). Not a knitter or crocheter? Felt will also be available if people want to craft small red hats to pin on.

We have some red yarn donations available for your use, but you are welcome to bring your own yarn, too.

It's almost time for the best fiber show in Rochester! This Saturday, February 7, from 10-4, come see all the yarn, tools, and fiber art!

I'm bringing a new yarn - a 50/50 blend of super wash merino wool and tencel. Super lustrous and full of drape.

It's been so good to dive back into the studio and get the dye pots going.

The shop will be open as usual (Friday noon-4 and Saturday 11-5) with John at the helm.

It takes 3.5% of us to really make things happen, and there are so many ways to help. Call. Donate. Show up at protests. Vote with your dollars. Get involved in mutual aid. If you're feeling creative, there is a call for art on the nationalshutdown.org website. If you want to get involved but need a place to start, feel free to stop in the shop for more information.

The free table in the entryway has been restocked with yarn, and there are plenty of patterns out there just waiting to be taken. Keep yourself and your neighbors warm.

Happy Solstice!
I'm happy to have finished the first sweater I've ever knit for myself. Ready to keep me warm as the light returns (as soon as I block it). This is the Polina Pullover by . It's a cropped sweater pattern, but I'm not really a cropped sweater sort of human, so I kept knitting until I felt it was long enough for me (hence the extended amount of ribbing). This is the double folded collar version. Knit in Aegean Tweed. The second photo is of the inside - because isn't that what we all want to see when it comes to color work? I really loved this pattern - the flowers are based on Ukrainian folk artist Polina Raiko's floral motifs.
