Doctor in Lombardy-Italy, says:
👇👇👇
"Not even in the darkest nightmares did I imagine that I could see and live what has been happening here in our hospital for three weeks. It seems like a nightmare; this dangerous river is getting bigger and bigger.
In the beginning, some covid-19 patients came, then dozens and then hundreds and now we are no longer doctors, but we have become classifiers on the conveyor belt, and we have to decide who lives and who should be sent to die at home, although all these people have paid Italian taxes all their lives.
Until two weeks ago, my colleagues and I were atheists; It was pretty common because we are doctors, and we learned science, where it is taught to exclude the presence of God; Sometimes, I laughed at my parents going to church.
Nine days ago a 75-year-old priest came to us; this gentleman had respiratory problems, but he had a Bible with him, and we were impressed that he read to the dying who ended up holding his hand; As all the doctors were tired, discouraged, psychologically and physically finished when we had time we would listen to him; Now we have to admit: we humans have reached our limits; we cannot do more, and every day more people die; And we are exhausted, we already have two colleagues who have been killed and others are unemployed; We realized that where what man can end, we need God and we began to wonder when we had some free minutes; We talk among ourselves and we cannot believe that of those who were once fierce atheists we have started to think and come daily to find our peace, asking the Lord to help us resist so that we can care for the sick.
Yesterday the 75-year-old priest left with great peace to the presence of God; that until today even though we had more than 120 dead in 3 weeks here, we would all have been destroyed but the old priest managed through word and faith, showing us his love and kindness during his stay here bringing us a peace that no longer we hoped to find.
There is a Light of hope and salvation.
The priest left with the Lord, and we will soon follow him.
I have not been home for six days, I do not know when I last ate, and I realize my uselessness on this earth, and I want to dedicate my last breath in helping others.
I am happy for the hope to have known God, I serve, and I pray for the neighbor while I am surrounded by the suffering and the departure of my fellow men, but having in our hearts God we have the hope of eternal life ".
