We're in the middle of an eclipse portal right now. It opened with the lunar eclipse in March and ends with the solar eclipse next Monday.

Eclipses are like wiping the slate clean. This solar eclipse is a time to both wipe away anything that anchors you in the past, as well as (being a new moon), a powerful time to manifest and create new things.

Eclipses can be a little bit of a mind f* , because the energies of the sun and moon together can create a mixed message. Letting go and wiping the slate clean, while also creating and swimming in new energy is A LOT.

If you've been feeling wonky, that's normal during this eclipse portal. Spend some time with paper and pen, and fire and burn something you want to release. Take advantage of this powerful time to both release the old and create new. Spend some time meditating and imagining what you want to create. I rattle for peace. In the Bible when the people were bit by a plague of venomous snakes, God turned Moses' staff into a snake and told Moses to ask the people to lift their eyes and look at the snake to be saved by the venomous bite. We don't want to lift our eyes and see our enemies as part of the human family we all are.

The caduceus is a symbol of healing...two snakes hugging. I rattle for peace. This wand is known to wake the sleeping and send the awake to sleep. In feeling too awake, at times, to the woes of war, I rattle to lull myself asleep...and to wake the sleeping.

Hermes saw two serpents
Entertwined in mortal war
He used his wand to separate
And ask of serpents more

More balance bring
More peace songs sing
Art of negotiation

Quiet, listen
Lift eyes, glisten
In loving inspiration

Mercury the messenger
God of communications
Helps balance chakra of the throat
In hard associations

I rattle for peace. In the Bible when the people were bit by a plague of venomous snakes, God turned Moses' staff into a snake and told Moses to ask the people to lift their eyes and look at the snake to be saved by the venomous bite. Baba Yaga got a Queen makeover at the tea shop. Working with Baba Yaga is Dark Goddess witch magic, which basically means working with your shadow self, the parts you hide that cause you shame, and that trip you up when you repress and keep them unconscious.

I found her beat up, discarded Hag self in a bin at the thrift store. I asked her what she needed and she said "A gorgeous new dress made out made out of the silk scarves in the bin over there." I kept asking what she wanted..."A queen crown, a queen chair, and grain for my chickens (she carries chicken feet with her keys and magic crystals at her waist), a new broom.

She then asked for a special tea cup, from which to drink her witches brew. My friend Robin (who made the fantastical dress) and I then invited her to our tea party, and we all had the most fabulous time.

Invite those shadow parts of yourself to the table...get to know them so that you can be healed and whole.

Fire in the belly
Solar plexus fuel
But what does that entail
What is fire belly school

Sometimes belly gets kicked by
Someone you thought was kind
Sometimes they up and trick you
And they're meaness blows your mind

After mind blown kick
All third chakra fuel leaks out
When your gut is crying
Sometimes you whine and pout

Sadness cry is normal
Anger's normal too but
Don't sit in these emotions
Sing and sooth them, pass them through

Let heart chakra love them
All that sadness, anger, fear
Let heart chakra rock them
They're your truth, treat them as dear

With feelings heard, when they've been
Hugged and kissed and put to sleep
Put them down for good
Bury in plot that's nice and deep

Then surrender with crown chakra
Have root chakra root in deep
In that amended soil
In that dead emotion heap

Birth new things, make them wild
With sacral chakra hips
Sing a crazy, wild birth song

We all didn't quite finish our rattles in this weekend's class...but close.

I was so struck by this image of the native water warriors in Washington steering their canoes in an effort to to stop huge shipping containers of weapons the US was sending to the middle east. It inspired me to attend this community discussion.

Some I knew thought there was not going to be a way to have positive, beneficial discourse. Some I knew on the panel were nervous about this as well. But I watched something occur there that made me feel the power in simply opening my eyes and sitting as witness.

At the end of the discussion I saw this Jewish man, (who was at the Gaza strip on October 7th) hug this Palestinian woman. This hug was a bit awkward and resistant. But witnessing that hug seared hope in my soul.

This woman (the only woman on the panel, and the only Palestinian where there were three Jewish men and two Christian(ish?) men) was the epitome of intelligence, beauty and grace. She bore burdens being on this panel that others did not.

That hug brought to mind the story in the Bible where God sends venoumous serpents to help the Israelites remember Him. God then turns Moses' staff into a serpent and has Moses ask the people who have been bit to lift their eyes and look at the serpent to be healed.

Most didn't want to look their enemy in the eye, but those who did were healed. I found the most difficult discourse during this discussion to be between these two. But they somehow met eye to eye, and somehow hugged, a hug that I witnessed...two foes, two "snakes" hugging and healing. And it gave me hope.

This hug reminded me of the image of the caduceus, two snakes hugging. 😍
The caduceus came to be associated with the medical field, based on the Hermetic astrological principles of using the planets and stars to heal the sick. It's a symbol of healing.

May we take the time to engage in meaningful discourse. May we humble ourselves, lift our eyes and see...see the world with compassion and love. May we sing songs of peace.
